even IGN is saying that the ps3 launching at $1000 is plausible. The first blu ray drive, which isnt even out yet, is going to retail for $1800. Thats just for a blu ray player. Not only will the ps3 have the blu ray drive, it will also have the cutting edge cell processor and the highest end graphics card when it comes out, plus all the other stuff like ram. Ken kutaragi mentioned that he wants the ps3 to last two console life cycles, which means he would like to release the ps4 in about 10 years! He has said many many times that its going to be very expensive. Im almost positive the ps3 wont retail for less than $600 for the simple fact that sony would be taking too big of a loss on the system. I predict it will be $800.
That Shit is True cause on G4TV they were saying how the first blu-ray players coming out by panisonic were retailin for $1500, and that shit still gotta few months before it comes out.

Sony designed the Blu-Ray disc technology, of course Panasonic is going to be selling their shit for hella, they have to pay Sony back for being able to use it. The PS3 won't have that problem, because it is made by Sony. I expect it to retail at 399, only 100 more than the PS1 and PS2 were at their launch.

without reading the article, Id say Sony will shoot themselves in the foot on that one. It had better have HDTV, TIVO, CD/DVD feature, internet access, word processing ability, a calculator, and a mircowave to cook popcorn in for all that $$$.

games are gonna be in the range of 70 dollars, and the blu ray technology was NOT solely developed by sony. so lemons stance isnt applicable

That's what I originally thought. Plus, an extra 100 for a harddrive, or whatever if you wanted one for saves and downloads and shit.

But, I have a feeling it's going to be 499, and then you'll still have to pay the 100 for the harddrive.

399 would be the smartest move by Sony because the customers are already used to paying that much because of the 360's Premium Price.

But, then, they could put it up for 499, and say it's just a hundred dollars more expensive than 360, and far more powerful with a blu-ray player, which costs 1500 dollars otherwise..

So... I'm saying 500 dollars.

I bet they'll keep it at 60 a game, like 360.

Wasn't N64 at 60 dollars a game.. I remember the prices were ridiculous.. But, maybe that's because PS1 games were like 30 dollars.

60 or even 70 for a game is fucking retarded. There's no reason for the higher price, besides idiots actually paying it. Blockbuster is now renting 360 games, btw.
Did they just start? I went to my local blockbuster like Sunday and they didn't have shit for 360. Pisses me off.

I pretty sure that the games are gonna be 70+ if you caluculate how much it cost to make a next gen game (360 games=$60 on a regular dvd) and the new blu-ray disc which was already established as a pricey format. Thats the only reason I think that HD-dvd had a chance was because Blu-Ray is hella expensive but it holds more. I even remember reading on Gamespot that sony plans on an expensive release for the PS3 and said that they believe there customers will work "extra hard" (hin, hint) to get the best console out.

the 60-70 dollar games will be because of development costs. the ps3 is so hard to develop for and theres so much power to utilize that games now require larger software teams and longer time frames to make the game. this all gets passed down to the consumer
