Polygamy: The having of a plurality of socially bonded sexual partners at the same time; most commonly, the marriage of a man to more than one woman, or the practice of having several wives, at the same time.

If they came up with a word for that ^ ^ ^, why can't they come up with something for gays?

Two men or women marrying each other is much different to me than a Man and Woman marrying each other and I think they should be differentiated.

Like, you can’t compare a pothead to a crackhead and consider them the same type of drug addict, yanno?

I'm not against gays getting married and shit, but they should have a different name for it... keeping them separated from polygamy, straight marriages, etc, because well... it is a different type of, I think MR. NICE GUY put it best, "Garriage", LOL…I don't know how to put it... but yeah... get my drift?

Its not that I'm against it, I just think it should be differentiated...

the fact that were are even debating what "marriage" is and who should be classified as married couple, with ALL the shit going on in the country and world, the famine, wars, enviornment, is PATHETIC. Completely and absolutely pathetic. Its almost as pathetic as reading articles about what britney spears prefers to order at starbucks.

Hey lets focus on gay people cuz I dont like them!

Questions for those voting for it: How many times has a gay couple ever knocked your soda over while having anal sex in the seats next to you while you were watching a movie? how many times have you went to check your mail, and BAM, a gay guy attempts to fuck you in the asshole? Or better yet, how has a gay person affected your life AT ALL?!

I dont agree with a lot of shit... like bitches who bring 34 items to a 10 item of less checkout line. Bare in mind this is something they can help and do something about (as opposed to being homosexual), but I'm not gonna start designing new laws that would deter these bitches from going in the lanes. Nor am I gonna throw a hissy fit and scream "do that shit behind closed doors. I dont want to have to explain to my kid why dumb bitches like you cant read the '10 items of less' sign!"

I think the average education level on this board is BARELY post grade school. Pathetic.

god forbid my kids not being ignorant like i am!

Damn, I want everyone who voted yes to give me 3 valid reasons how this affects them, aside from having the terrible task of telling their kid what a gay person is.
I didn't vote yes...or no. BUT, what if some folks just don't believe in it? Is that a valid reason? As you and I both know, we all have our own beliefs. NOW, my question would be "Why don't you believe in gay marriage?"

That's just me though. I personally have always believed that marriage should be between a man and a woman, but I know whatever decision is made ultimately doesn't affect me as a person, which is why I think I will skip this one on the ballot.

*SIDE NOTE* - I don't hate homosexuals or disagree with whatever they decide to do as people.

Yeah, of course anybody can vote or not vote for whatever they want. Im not trying to convince anyone anything, Im not cocky enough to think I can change someones opinion. But the reason I bring it up is a lot of people who theoretically voted yes have such shotty reasoning, I want to hear a few reasons why besides their opinion, I think if youre going to have a vote that affects millions of people like that your should have more of a reason then "I dont think its right" when IT is something that doesnt affect you.

Why do people believe religious beliefs shitty reasoning?

When u say that ur basically spitting on peoples belief on a god that gave them life, their families, there world, and everything else. and when they want to defend god, why do u hate on them so much? That sounds pretty reasonable to me.

People can believe whatever they want, thats fine, but for one your religious beliefs are supposed to have nothing to do with the law, its pretty obvious it does, but essentially religion and state should be seperate, and two your religious beliefs are just that yours, keep em too yourself enough to keep them out of political decisions that affect people that have a different belief system than you. I think its pretty unreasonable when you ask someone why gays shouldnt get married they say "Bible says its wrong", well good for you, good luck with that. But if youre going to decide something that affects a bunch of people that isnt you, that needs to be a decision based on a non-biased, non-theological line of thinking.

I was just wondering. You said that you have 6th graders, so I was just clarifying. I have a question...as a teacher, would you include homosexual information when teaching sex ed? Or would you teach "traditional" sexual behavior?
Well.. first of all, my school district doesnt implement sex ed... it SHOULD.. but it doesnt.. thats another story.

IF they implemented sex ed and I were teaching it... I dont think I'd have the freedom to teach them whatever. Im sure there is very strict curriculum for schools that do have sex ed that describe to the teachers what exactly to teach. and I doubt homosexuality or masturbation would be on the agenda. However, if students were to ask me during the course about homosexuality, yeah, I'd tell them what it is. I wouldnt go into detail about anal sex or blow jobs or anything, but I'd explain the basic concept.

But how do my thoughts and beliefs affect gay people in this situation? They have civil unions where they are able to receive all the same rights that i could?

They want the title of "marriage" for purely superficial reasons. marriage is for people who 100 percent believe in the word of god. u cannot expect to recieve the glory of being gods child and be willingly defiant against his law.

Ok, I can feel that. I'm sure the curriculum varies from school to school, as each city and state has their own guidelines. We learned about masturbation in 5th grade, but not so much about the important facts like STD's. In fact, I don't recall my teacher mentioning AIDS, herpes, syphilis, or anything of that nature...which, in my opinion, is just retarded.

Since this is California, I'm sure some folks would want homosexuality to be taught...and even raise a stink about it before they support a more serious concentration on things like STD's. In any case, a kid is going to have to learn what homosexuality is...whether it's in school or not. I personally would rather be the one explaining that to my children, but we'll have to just sit back and see what happens as far as education goes.
