For one, WHAT religion? There are PLEEEENTY of religions/cultures that allow marriage, sex and other relationship between same sex individuals, (example: Indian Hinduism, Somoan, etc.) so, don't group Judaism, Islam and Christianity as the only religions, that is a logical fallacy.
Marriage is an instution that allows two individuals to be legal bound as partners for life, incase one dies, the other will be in charge of what is left(children, house, etc.). It is NOT a religious institution because there is marriage in all cultures and all religions, so it cannot be solely religious. Plus, there are athiests that marry all the time, they do not get married in churches, and just get the LEGAL document(just like getting a legal document like social security card, etc.) to pronounce that they are married by law?

No, if you could logically and not ethnocentrically explain a reason by which 2 people who want to be legally married, and if something is to happen to one, then the other will have full custody to help decide on things, and do what is good for that person, SHOULDN'T BE LEGALLY bound to one another. then, well shit, YOU should be a lawyer! haha

This is complete bullshit, and it has been, they dismiss cases, and they just do the run around about this topic because people are scared out of no logical fear that somehow their child will BE gay because gay marriage is finally legal, LIKE IT should be.

This is at a time, let's remember, that it would be very intelligent to start adopting as many kids as we can, instead of having our own because of the overpopulation rate of human beings in the World.

But no, your Priest/Pastor/Sheikh/Rabbi tells you it is WRONG

I personally am Catholic. Now, there are some things in my religion I don't agree with, and some things I do. This happens to be one. The thing about marriage is, it's been around for quite a while, right? Before it was a legal institution, it was a religious institution. I'm pretty sure the United States made it a public issue, because we're good at that here.

Marriage, traditionally, is the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc.

My neighbors are gay, and they have benefits and all that good shit under a domestic partnership. They aren't out there trying to get married, why would they be? They have what they need.

OH, and ETHNOCENTRIC is the belief in the inherent superiority of one's own ethnic group or culture. I'm not ethnocentric, and this conversation has nothing to do with ethnicity or culture, it has to do with religion and law.

im voting no on 8.. its one of those things were 'it's not you, so it shouldnt bother you'. they just want the same benefits of straight ppl. i wouldnt want anyone telling me i cant marry someone.. its totally predijuced to me.. i have a few gay friends.. so i might be biased

It will benefit me by stopping the fag movement. I was dropping my son off at school & seen all these gay dudes at the corner with signs saying "NO on prop8".....my son, which is 7 laughed at them & said what's wrong this those weirdos, I said they just gay lmao

I voted yes for the sake of our children & for organizations/church's rights to say gay marriage is wrong. By the way, homo's going from opposite sex to same sex is enough for me to believe it's a choice they made. It's a trauma thing like some1 said, so of course we aren't supposed to understand all the reasons why people turn gay.

the fact is, is if this passes then liberal fuckin teachers aka all of them can teach students about same-sex marriage and parents will have no ability to stop them. Marriage by definition is between a man and a woman. Let gays have "civil unions", y do they need the title of marriage? They all ready have ALL the same rights as straight people, they just like to flaunt the fact that their gay and make sure everyone knows it. This is not an issue of "civil rights" like the homos are making it out to be. There is absolutely NO correlation between prop 8 and the civil rights movement of the 1960's. Plus California voters already voted on this issue and they voted to ban gay marriages. Then some liberal judge overturned it, which is going against the will of the people.

This is 100% REAL TALK! Gay folks do have the rights we do if they have their unions and everything is legit. The people of California did vote to ban gay marriage, the judge did overturn it, and he should get his ass tossed out of the judicial system completely for being a piece of shit and going against the decision of the people.

Also, I agree that a lot of gay folks want to flaunt it. Not ALL, but a lot do. What would gay folks say if the straight folks got together and had a "Straight Parade"? Something to think about.

Like I said, I have nothing against gay people. Some of the coolest people I've met are gay, including my next door neighbors...so save that "Bigot" shit for somebody else.
