Rasan @Rasan - White comedians do make racist jokes, but it takes less for them to cross the line, because of the history of this country. Countries with different histories see it differently. By organizations I mean NAACP, La Raza (I know they changed their name), etc. They promote racism even if they have good intentions.

how does the NAACP who empower black americans promote racism? or La Raza? if you would have said the black panthers then i could see how you would feel a certain way.
do you feel threatened when "minorities" have a sense of pride about who they are as a people? there is nothing wrong about being proud of who you are and then creating a group to share your pride with others who feels as strongly as you do. it is wrong however when certain groups claim to be superior to other races and or cultures. imo.

Yea if he would have said malcom x or something like that then thats understandable... But the NAACP does not promote racist views at all they actually promote equality...black pride and black power theyre two completely different things

Rasan @Rasan & Tazz - NAACP exists to help colored people, as in non-whites. La Raza the same. They imply that minorities have special needs so they group and exclude by race. This is racism even if it's not malicious. There are no groups that publicly advocate for white advancement on the scale of NAACP and La Raza. That would be seen as oppressive in this country.

This is not racism.

As defined by Webster:

rac·ism
noun \ˈrā-ˌsi-zəm also -ˌshi-\

: poor treatment of or violence against people because of their race

: the belief that some races of people are better than others

Rasan @Rasan & IPIM - It is exclusionary to provide a service or benefit to a group and not to those outside of the group. And exclusion based on race is racism. It doesn't matter the reason or intent. I don't see this as debatable. A better debate would be whether or not all forms of racism are bad.

@Shea - Remember the swastika cuff links? Con called me a few days later. He called us both racists for that one.

There are white groups that do the same thing, they are just less publicized. For instance the Freemasons (yes there are freemason and other like organizations that are integrated and ones of particular ethnicities that vary). White people can even get college scholarships for having blue eyes (there are tons of scholarships out there for various ethnicities, traits, socio-economic conditions, etc.). Rhodes Scholars are white. What about the Italian American club? Nothing wrong with it. There is also nothing wrong with black power or pride or brown power or pride or indigenous power or pride or anyone else for that matter. Fred Hampton (RIP) was a great man, he believed in power to all people, even white people- and there was nothing wrong with what he tried to do for people of his same ethnicity - he was a true revolutionary. I didn't know him obviously but I learned a lot from him as well as other real original Black Panthers that I was fortunate to actually know as a youth. Cesar Chaves (AZup), Russell Means, both great men who did a lot for their people and weren't racist, the list is a lot longer. Racism is a problem. Having an organization to assist and further advance a specific ethnicity is not racist. When you try to hold the next man or woman down or think you are better than them because of their ethnicity, that's racist

Now if US taxpayers of all color and creed are having to shell out money disproportionately to advance one ethnicity further than the other, that should be looked into.

Funny you'd bring them up, because I just ran across them yesterday going thru some boxes.

Funny story about Con, he got drunk (nothing new) at my ex's sons bday a few years back (family party) & proceeded to call all his friends to tell them there is a "Party at my brothers house" & pretty much everyone from KD's came over. I had no clue til they showed up & I had to turn everyone away & he proceeded to say it was because I am a racist even tho there was a mixture of folks at the party LOL ....stormed off & left.

StillHustlin @StillHustlin - I agree that it goes both ways. But not on the scale of NAACP or La Raza. At least not with that as their publicly stated goal. Either way, I still find it racist by definition. Again, we can debate whether some racism is worthwhile or justified, but it doesn't change that you're excluding whites for the benefit of non-whites. Good intentions, I know. But still racist. Also, I had to look it up but Rhodes Scholars are not always white.
