Well I'm at another crossroads in my life where I'll be changing careers.

I'd like to pursue something fulfilling where I can make a difference..an instant impact. was thining of joining the military for awhile until Deep Thought talked some sense into me.

Was thinking of growing 26 inch long dreadlocks and becoming a backpack rapper...and piss and moan about the government all day long. But nah, not for me.

Was thinking of finishing my BS in Info Systems and get paid 6 figures for what I get peanuts for now...but I'd rather not ever set foot in an office ever again.

Thought occured to me...police officer. Protecting and serving, putting your life on the line to be there for the weak...there's a whole bunch of romance to it. Most cops I try to talk to are humorless and just tell me to take the NYPD civil service exam and see how I do. Then they usually ask me "ARE YOU STAYING OUT OF TROUBLE??" and where I live.

Anyway...is PD an honorable profession still?

You should have deep thought talk you out of this idea also...

PD is not a good way to make a change in the community, your only job is to uphold the "law". Rappers that piss and moan about the government all day change more people than cops do.

my uncle was a cop for like 20years just barely retired..hes a real good person..im sure it was some people out there who hated him...it comes with the business...my dad right now is a police dispatcher..meaning he answers 911 calls etc etc...after he retired from the navy my uncle put him up on that...i would say thats probably the best compromise..be involved in the field without actually being a cop.i dont knock cops in general...but im in there with the rest of the people who find it easier to dislike cops rather than like um off top...ive been fucked with alot in my time ...but shit..do what u do..cuz i have come across some cool ass officers and they made me think twice about it all...

i wouldnt think about becoming just a normal police officer, because u dont want to become a traffic cop, or just a doofus cop in some small ass town picking on people and being bored. however, if u want to go into law enforcement, consider becoming an investigator of some sort, maybe homicide, arson, or some specialized department where u can investigate crime scenes and cases, or drug deals. police are still heroes, although i hate most of them in the town where i grew up. as much as people love to hate them, we still need them.

If you are going into that field go SWAT. That way if you are going after someone it's because they did something for sure. You never have to go calm down some drunk fat fuck who hit his wife while watching your back because she is real likely to stab you in your ass with her aids infested meth pipe. I have no idea how you go about getting into SWAT though.

As for cops, I used to have reason to hate/be afraid of them, but now a days I don't. The only thing is, every time I get a speeding ticket, I genuinely hate all cops for a while, then it fades to normal. I got a ticket last Friday, so I hate them right now. Fucking cops.

I say there are crooked people in EVERY profession...Hell, I sold cellphones and was honest as fuck with people, yet there's a sterotype about salesman...and it doesn't ALWAYS prove true...That being said, most people who have a problem with law enforcement have a REASON to not run into cops...I'm not sayin there isn't police harrassment, but MOST of them are out just doing their jobs...And this is comin from a dude who HAS been harrassed...Bitten by a police dog, all the shit thrown out my car etc. So u can't say its cause I haven't had "experiences" lol

in the wise words of NWA.......

GIVE EM SOMETHING TO DANCE TO!

lol naw but for real though, if you know deep down you're an honest person, and is willing to take the risk in protecting others, and at the same time take on the perception that cops are crooked, then do as your heart desires

and whether if its looked at as an honorable profession depends on the person and what kind of experience they've had with police officers....

i'm sorry, i'm drunk... what was the question you were asking?

My bro wanted to join and a friend of mines is taking classes to become an officer of the law. If you don't like making a living in the corporate world and want some excitement, police officer is a great way to go. Lots of ADRENALINE RUSHES and tons of excitement. I know you're not doing this for that and for serving the community but a lil fun wouldn't hurt. You don't have to think too much, you carry weapons, you drive all day, the pay isn't all that great but it's adequate for a nice life. You get to be involved in other people's DRAMA and your the solution.

see what out weighs the other, the pro's or the cons.

I was going to take dispatching in san leandro till i found out that it was a uniformed position. remember tho, if you do decide to become one, you get respect if u give it. The only exception are to those who pose a threat.

Considering how much of an asshole you are....yeah you'd probably make a good cop!! LOL...J/K

On some real talk tho most cops that I've came in contact with have been dickheads. I guess that's why most of the time I see cops I'm gone. I just ditched some unmarked cop car the other day trynna pull me over on the freeway but made the mistake of cutting me off then flipping his lights on while being in front of me. He slowed down thinking I would pass him up when all I did was hit the next exit and get ghost on his ass!
