As promised, here i am, giving you some news from yesterday's meeting. It's been meeting #7 since my company joined the project about 2 years ago. Time just goes way too fast heh.
My company will deal with basic SFX. We're already working on some scratches, backgrounds and such. In the hall we were along with some main actors' agents (including david's one), 3 head members of revolution and a small number of representatives other companies that like us will mostly work only during the pre-production phase.
We didn't spent much time on details (we just talked about some aspects of the script that apparently need to be changed) and then every company described their line of work. I'll spare you the boring details and give you just the infos you might need. Revolution is still angry about Merhi's departure. They're trying to call the man back and change his mind, but i doubt he will be back, he also dropped the Runelords project and he's just too busy working on the actors studio he founded last year. So far the only problem seems still to be on the directing side. Revolution claimed that they have a list of 10+ directors that might (and i repeat, *might*) wanna join the project. In case Merhi won't return, they'll start calling the agents of those directors and try to negotiate something. Also revolution informed us that they received a good offer from a german Producer/Director who has offered to afford 60-70% of the production costs (man.... this guy must be really rich...we're talking about 10-15 million dollars here) if they let him direct/produce the movie. This guy is working on a project called Postal and will be available to start shooting for kr right after the end of the filming for this one movie. That means if revolution decide to accept this german guy's offer, we won't see the movie before fall 2007. Time will tell.
Also, David's manager told us that his client is having some troubles with his family and he's taking a 2 months period of stop, and seems that revolution wants to sign actor Nathan Fillion for a possible main role, replacing Lea or Scalia (they won't be working on kr if Merhi is confirmed to be out). That's all for now. I'll be in england and france during the following weeks working on another project, but i'm really starting to like this one as well.
