Who just saw that? He just won the 100m butterfly by one one hundredths of a second, literally the closest race possible. Phelps' arms were straight out and Cavic, the guy in the lead, had his hands 6 inches away and phelps swam straight in to fuckin take the 7th gold.... After seeing that how the hell can he not take 8...

this was his biggest one to win for many reasons. it was his rival that he lost 2 last time. and if he was to lose then he would have to give the guy who won the OK to compete in the last race or some shit like that. so he woulda ended up with only 6 instead of maybe 8. and i dont know much but they said it would be a crazy upset if he lost cause he's so good at whatever the hell they have to do lol.

he has the perfect body and everything else that makes him so sucessful for swimming. I read some crazy things about how his feet can bend 15 degrees more then a normal human and bunch of other weird things like that. He's basically a freak in combination with strong mental toughness, great conditioning, etc.

lol wtf? if that sounded gay in any way my apologies. I meant he has the perfect physical attributes to be a great swimmer and probably some unique advantages as well like the feet thing I mentioned. Here, to show I'm not crazy:

IIT Kanpur alum and George Washington University researcher Rajat Mittal has spent the past five years studying Phelps and his dolphin kick - also known as the 'Berkoff Blastoff' after the Harvard backstroker who used it the first time at the Olympics 20 years ago.

[...]

Phelps was able to use his body ''in a way that is very, very different from the other athletes...much closer to dolphins than we have seen for any other swimmer.''

[...]

Phelps is able to straighten his massive size 14 feet to a greater angle (about 15 degrees) than any other swimmer, to reduce resistance. ''Almost 90 percent of all the thrust is coming from the foot,'' Mittal explained. ''And the flatter and bigger your foot is, you essentially have a bigger paddle. Michael's foot size and the angle he generates with it plays a big role in his ability to swim very well.''

[...]

Studies show that his powerful lungs can hold out longer underwater than most swimmers, eliminating the splash and drag that would result if he surfaced early. ''If the body is moving on the surface, it creates waves,'' Mittal explained. ''So if you can move underwater instead you can actually eliminate some resistance.''

Some other shit i read:

His arms measure 6ft 7in from fingertip to fingertip making his ‘wingspan’ 3in longer than his height

His long powerful arms mean Phelps needs just six to eight strokes to cover 25m, against an average swimmer’s 12 to 16.

His inside leg measures just 32in but the thighs are immensely powerful and his knees are double jointed.

His heart pumps 30 litres of blood a minute to his muscles, twice that of a normal man

produces a third of the lactic acid (which causes muscle burn) of an average swimmer.
