we drafted him as a raw talent and I think having him start last year was a good thing overall. he needed that experience. dude put in the work in the offseason(I read that he went back to work in february) and seems to have learned how to use his speed. I mean there some glimpses hear an there last season, of what he is potentially capable of. I've also read that he spends extra time after practice working with nnam. who better to teach you how to beat a DB off the line than asomugha?
Like a lot of raider nation folks, I was down on DHB last year. I wanted us to draft a linemen, preferably defensive. we made a reach and drafted this kid on potential, since he was such a raw talent coming out of college. seems to me that he's more than willing to put in the work to reach that potential. I'm betting he delivers and shuts up all the critics.
Yea Jimmy raye sucked last season due to his obvious play call. Especially when Morgan motions to the LT to take a shit but that was raye not having confidence in his qb and sing saying he wants to run the ball. After Smith's improvement, we'll see if raye opens it up.
Where's that pic somebody posted up showing crabs and DHBs stats where crabs had more catches and yards in his first game than DHB had since the beginning of his season. Hilarious.
You guys will be on hush when we go to CANDLESTICKITUPURASSPARK and give it to you without grease. At that point in the season, the NFL world will know the RAIDERS are back!!!
our O-line is somewhat questionable, and our WRs, but I think they should be okay if Schilens is healthy
what else?
and niners fan need to realize their O-line will not be drastically better automatically... you got 2 new Offensive linemen... but they're still rookies
Your oline huh? Justin smith, Franklin, spikes, Lawson and you know...PATRICK WILLIS will all have a field day. I predict a Jay Cutler performance he had against the 49ers on that Thursday night football game.
Gholdston, Clements, Mays will make sure DHB will get injured and taken outta the game.
I hate to say this since its irrelevant but ill say it anyways haha. DHB isnt even projected on Fantasy Football drafts. Dudes projected to score 2 points in every game. thats 20 yards per game. lol
Patrick willis #1 IDP
Gore #6 Top RB
Crabtree top 15 WR
VD # 4 Top TE
Alex Smith considered a sleeper
Jay Cutler? LMAO! You act as if he is an all pro QB or was part of a great offense. Try again. What happened with Matt Ryan, Brett "last second break your fucking heart Favre"? Or even Vince Young?lol
Gholdston, Clements, Mays will make sure DHB will get injured and taken outta the game.
Gholdston and Clements? Are you kidding me? DHB is going to clown your over paid washed up secondary. Mays has never took a snap in the NFL so I have no comment until after his third complete season.

I am not praising him, but I know he has the physical make-up and work ethic to be dominant in the NFL. I will not judge DHB until after year three. But I am sure the Raiders want to him to outshine Crabtree that day. Considering your secondary is garbage, I can see him having a field day.
Alex smith will be a sleeper!! First time with the same OC will show his improvement. Jimmy Raye will have more confidence in him and open up the playbook due to upgraded O-Line and our weapons with Gore, VD, Crabs, Morgan and Ginn. Defenses will no longer crowd the box. The 3 and outs will no longer happen and you already know about our Defense. Its a wrap! Stop looking at what he did in the past. Very understandable due to weak oline, lack of weapons, injuries due to that and learning a new offensive scheme every year since being thrown in with the wolves his rookie year.
Too many excuses for Smith. He'll improve, but he'll still just be above average, not GOOD.
As far as Willis, he can easily get defensive player of the year, but it all depends on whether or not they have a winning record. If all goes as it should, he'll be in the running. If the team flops, Willis could easily be the best defender in the league and not get the award. That's just the way it is.
it's funny how all Niners fans assume DHB is not gonna improve... when he's gotten almost nothing but high praises so far this offseason... from everybody, including people who were critical of him last season (pretty much everyone was critical of him last season... how could you not be... he sucked)
We've heard all that "high praises" shit about Alex Smith for years. I'm still waiting for that huge improvement, so forgive me if I don't believe it when a player gets sucked off during the offseason.
I think DHB will be better than last year. How could he not? But drastically better? I doubt it. He still needs to learn how to catch.

Alex Smith... I don't know... haven't been following his offseason progress, so I won't comment on it, and I won't assume that he still sucks... (unlike Niners fans with DHB)
That's good, because it wouldn't make sense to think he still sucks since he didn't "suck" last year. He was mediocre, but he didn't suck. Assuming he'd "still suck" is like assuming the Y2K bug was serious, even though it's 2K10 and we know it wasn't.

the argument I keep hearing is... "he finally has consecutive seasons with the same OC"
yeah... that's great... but the problem is that OC is shitty ass Jimmy Raye... lol
You can laugh all you want. I wasn't comfortable with Jimmy Raye as OC, either, but at least his old ass was smart enough to change the gameplans and schemes to suit Alex Smith's strengths when he took over last season instead of rolling with that run-up-the-gut-and-punt scheme we were using previously. He adapted, and that's a good thing. Now that everyone knows his system, all signs point to the old man opening things up. If he can become less predictable, he'll be fine.
He also knows how to get the ball in his TE's hands. Vernon Davis is one of our most dangerous weapons on offense, so look for another big season from him under old ass Raye.

and don't argue with me Niners fans... because I saw you talk a lot of shit about Jimmy Raye last season, and continuously say you guys need a new OC
now all of a sudden you're happy to have him back? lol, give me a break
It's the consistency we're looking for. Alex Smith supposedly can't function until he settles into a system. I want to see what he is actually capable of.
Jimmy Raye is a predictable asshole on gameday, but if our line wasn't the worst in the league last year, they could have executed properly and would have had their way with defenses in the trenches. Mike Solari and Ray Brown are the real differences on offense. If our line is even decent, Gore will go off. At that point, it won't matter how old and predictable Jimmy Raye is.

I will take Crabtree's numbers last year with 5-6 td's instead of two. Considering DHB's numbers last year, that would be a drastic improvement.

Mediocre wins 7-9 games, but I know your expectations are right around there. I agree.

Sometimes it does not carry over. I think if Smith plays average you guys walk away with NFC West. It is on his shoulders. Also, the teams that had a decent passing attack were able to light it up in the air, so that secondary is real suspect too. Seattle is probably the other team I would pick to win it if Hassleback can play 14-16 games this year.

Should of, could of, would of. You know better than that Fatal. But I agree, the running attack will definately open up the passing game. I expect the Raiders to be a run first, pass second offense. All I ask for is 21-24 points a game.
radio, meta, raiders ? marks are qb, oline, rb, wr, safeties, lbs, and dline. u got te's and cb's cuz of asomuga, mclain will help ur lb corp, dline aint shit change, but mcfadden aint proved shit shit ill take bush over him
