Marquez is fighting next week plus if he wins he's going to fight Amir Khan after.

Margarito is a good opponent for Pac he's going to be about 5 inches taller than Pac and will probably have 10-20 pounds on him come fight night.

I'm not really trippin if Margarito lost to Mosley, I mean to me that doesn't even really matter. Hagler still fought Hearns after Sugar Ray KO'd Hearns. Didn't mean it wasn't an important fight for Hagler.

A couple of years ago the top guys were: Cotto, Mayweather, Margarito and Mosley. That was like the fab four in our time. Pac is going to take out two of those guys and will fight the third next year hopefully.

The catchweight wont make a difference either as Margarito fought at 147 for years and has had one fight at 154 since his come back. If pac really wanted to be a dick he could say fight me at 147.

I think this shit stikns to high heaven. I don't think Floyd would even give this cheating bumb a chance in hell at a lucrative fight after he cheated. I don't think Roger would justify Flord fighting Margarito for what he did. There are ethics with this. Now I still maintane that I will be watching the fight with excitment, and disguts for Margarito, and contempt for Team Pac for letting boxing stoop down to this level. rewarding a cheater. If Margato does 3 key things in this bout Pac is done.

1- Jab to the stomach to halt Pac's forward motion.

2- Tie Pac up whenever he get's to close and weigh down on him.

3- Jab while moving backwards and when coming forwards. This will very the distance inwhich Pac will take more time setting up his own offense.

Best case senario: Margarito builds a lead off his own jab in the beginning of the fight and makes Pac go on the offensive. That will make him eiser to find with the jab and easier to tie up as Pac moves forward. Keep the jab pumping and catch Paman leaving his feet.

^^^^^ FEW KEYS:
1. Margarito is notorious for starting slow.
2. he does not fight tall
3. pacs only weapon is his jab and straight left so margarito would get caught if he jabbed the stomach...

on another note, i am disgusted with this fight
! a 154 title bout @ 150?!! his legacy will forever be in question for these catch weight championships!! This is just a great promotional move to break the title record for manny!!! why isnt bob arums fighter (margarito) requesting steroid test?!!
I hope margarito loads his gloves, and i hope manny stays juiced up so they kill each other in there......

3. When you jab to a shorter man's stomach you become longer. Believe me I know. You are harder to hit. You dont stay high jab low...you get low jab straight. Best way to do it is to move forward slightly (try to entice them to go for your head) duck sligtly to the side with your guard to the side of your head and you jab to the midsection. You can also jab upward...Dela Hoya used to do that to shorter dudes. Mayweather destroyed Diego Corales with that high low maneuver. Pac man has never did much damge with an uppercut.

Yes that is possible and im not sure if oscar did it. But being almost 4 inches taller and having an opponent as physical as pac ur gunna risk a clash of heads by doin so.... i still think fighting tall with an authoritive jab (not one just used to show activity) and disrupting manny's combos (like marquez did the 2nd fight). the only real threat cheato posseses is his uppercut and the more he fights tall the more rekless manny will get and that will allow cheato to lands those uppercuts..... but that will not happen because it takes 4 to 5 rounds on avg. for cheato to throw 90 punches a round, and we all know that manny gets goin at the 1st bell!! also manny's superior footwork and hand speed will frustrate cheato and cause him to lose patience... manny unam. dec.!!!

Why in the hell would margarito ask for additional drug tests? lol one of the more absurd things i've read in a while.

As for the belt being on the line, it really doesn't matter that it's at a catchweight because it's a bullshit belt in the first place. It's a vacant WBC belt which neither pac or margarito have any right to fight for, so a catchweight is a moot point. Also, it shouldn't effect Pac's legacy because catweights have always been around - Henry Armstrong, the guy pac is most compared to, fought quite a few catchweight bouts in his time, in fact he fought for a welterweight (147) belt when both him and his opponent weighed in under 140!

The reason you dont "fight tall" for the whole match and you go up and down with your jab is to prevent the next man from moving forward . If you continue to fight tall you allow the shorter man to dip and duck to the body. Jabing downward is to catch that man when he thinks he can duck, that discourages him. I've done that plenty of times and it works great agianst smaller guys.

Arturo Gatti vs Micky Ward I, II and III. All catchweights. Two fighters, three fights.

Bernard Hopkins vs de la hoya at 156
Bernard Hopkins vs Winky Wright at 170
Bernard Hopkins vs Pavlik at 170

Henry Armstrong vs Lew Jenkins 140 pounds (even though it was a Welterweight fight)
Henry Armstrong vs Barney Ross 140 pounds (also a welterwweight fight)

Secondly, this is Pacquiao's second catchweight fight. His first being against Cotto. He's never had one before.

Not sure I agree Bay Area. Doesn't make sense for a taller, rangier fighter to change levels. He would only be putting himself within better range for his shorter opponent. Tall fighters should fight tall, period. Basic boxing fundamentals. You keep the shorter fighter from coming forward by stopping him in his tracks with a long jab. No need to go low when you can hit him, and he can't reach you.

..............

I boxed with shorter fighters and moving the jab up and down was fustrating for them. I had a taller sparring partner who did that same thing to me and it was hell because I couldn't dip under his jab to move into his body. You position yourself in a shell and jab low. You have to have done it to understand what I'm saying. Look at Floyd and how he handled Marquez. Floyd is taller yet he worked his jab up and down till he caught Marq uptop with a hook.

i said great fighters!! not notable fighters!!! lol!!!
Bernard Hopkins will go down as one of the greatest middleweight fighters of all time, a hall of famer, an all time great and one of the greatest over 40 fighters of all time as well. He's a living legend.

Henry Armstrong is a top 10 pound 4 pound fighter of all time. He's also the guy pacquiao is constantly compared too, being that Armstrong won titles in multiple weight classes.

Gatti and Ward obviously aren't on the caliber of hopkins & armstrong, but they were both world champions.

and i should have rephrased it.... Name three Great champs who CREATED weight classes(150, 145?!!) for championships!!!
Is 170 pounds a weight class, where hopkins fought a couple times?
When Henry Armstrong fought at 140 pounds, there WAS NO 140 pound division. This was back in the day when there were only 8 weight classes and they did not yet have the super and junior classes. 140 pounds didn't even exist yet.

and im pretty sure pavlik n hopkins wasnt a catch weight!!!
Pavlik vs Hopkins was at a catch weight of 170.

October 18th as the bout will have both fighters weigh in at a catch weight of 170 pounds.

Hopkins weighed in at exactly 170 pounds and Pavlik weighed in at 169 pounds.

Pavlik's previous fight against Jermain Taylor (the rematch) was at a catweight of 166 pounds as well.
