I bolded the parts that pretty much supported some of the points I made a few pages ago.

It's still a good read if you're a boxing fan and Steve Kim is a respected boxing writer, so his opinion holds some weight.

If you don't know who Steve Kim is, you probably aren't a boxing purist. Not only is he a writer but he also does alot of press row scoring in some major fights. Let me guess, the only boxing writers you know are Dan Rafael and Bert Sugar.

Kostya Tszyu, Ricky Hatton, Stevie Johnston, Antonio Margartio...

Need I say more...?

Tony, I'm as big a Floyd fan as the next man, but this guy has hand picked his opponents throughout his career. This is a well known fact. Just like Floyd turned down a match @ 154 with Winky.

C'mon now, De La Hoya is a legend, but he's definitely not the top dog @ 154.
None of those people are worthy, and I'm serious.. Hatton got scraped by Collazo, Tszyu got scraped by Hatton, never heard of Stevie Johnson and Margarito fights cab drivers, his biggest win was Cintron.. Who is Margarito supposed to be? There's a difference between belt holders and champs..

This is your typical cop out argument that anyone can use.. "If you don't know Robert Johansen then you don't know boxing, blah, blah".. Please, I've been watching boxing before Steve Kim was born, don't use that rhetoric on me, it won't undermine anything else I know about boxing.. I'm a Boxing fan, bro, I don't name drop and pretend to be some type of expert, I'm an intermediate who's been watching Boxing before Steve Kim had a career.... Also the guy slandered HBO, he can't be that neutral..

he's well known to anyone who knows boxing well.
He's well known to wanna-bes who pretend like hanging on names and opinions of all boxing analysts qualify them as intermediates and excludes everyone else, that's a fallacy for real, it makes no sense and is too convenient of an argument..

Edit: Maybe if I seen a picture of him I'd recognize him, there was never a good reason for me to remember his name..

I never said you didn't know boxing, I said you're probably not a purist. You just disregarded the man's article I posted probably because it doesn't reflect your opinion. This is why I keep my boxing arguments on here to a minimum and stick with the boxing forums. According to you, Oscar isn't Hall of Fame material and you don't even know who Stevie Johnston is, I shouldn't even be arguing with you... So you admit you're an intermediate, if so, should you even have an opinion on whether Oscar's good enough to make the HOF? That's just pure hate.

No one disregarded it, you're exaggerating to make a point.. I said it's a shame when people's opinions at face value get treated as gospel.. I'm definitely a purist, my inclusion in the club doesn't depend on Steve Kim, most definitely, he isn't that important, people like him come and go.. People like Teddy Atlas, Jim Lampley, and even Merchant have recognizable names to most intermediates and purists. Also you're using your terminology wrong, knowledge of Steve Kim does not determine who and who is not a "purist", some one who is true to the original art. This is I feel a desperate attempt to discredit my opinion, but whatever, it's still only an opinion, I'm not imposing it on you..

^Again, maybe you just need a dictionary, of course I am, intermediate does not mean beginner, and no one in here is an expert obviously, so therefore we're all intermediates.. You're not making any sense at all, all of a sudden..

I'm not saying it makes you less of a boxing supporter if you don't know Steve Kim.

I'm saying, IF you do, well...it means you probably do read literature and periodicals about whats going on in the boxing world other than what you see on TV. Thats what the chances are. Get what i'm saying at all?

This is getting off topic again in any case...

^I respect that as long as you don't use it as an argument against me.. Honestly I don't read anymore than what's on the sites, like fight fan, or boxingscene and certain names just don't stick.. It doesn't mean anything from my view as far as my overall knowledge of boxing..

I was actually trying to go back and edit that sentence, but the little edit button isn't down there. What I was trying to say is that if you have intermediate knowledge of the sport, your opinion on whether someone's career is hall of fame worthy or probably isn't fair. I was using the word intermediate as in in "average", if I used it wrong my bad.

This is saving face, just admit that you didn't grasp the terminology in the context in which I used it. Intermediate as in between expert and beginner, anywhere in between. Again, since no one in here is an expert, everyone's either a beginner or intermediate. I know a heck of a lot about boxing, I might not know Steve Kim, but that should make up for the fact that you don't know what an intermediate level fan or a "purist" is, so we're even in that petty aspect. I won't criticize you on your errors and hold it against you, certain things you didn't know or were confused about..
