Floyd ducks opponents? LOL....

Come on now... Floyd moved up in weight, whooped De La Hoya on Cinco de Mayo and took his belts.....

If Floyd was ducking anyone he would have been ducking Oscar.

^Summed it up beautifully...

^^Exactly, and even though he's lost 5 fights, all fight were against the elite and all 5 were close with exception of his KO loss to Hopkins who's naturally a way bigger man than Oscar. Hate him or love him, he's helped the sport tremendously, probably moreso than any other fighter of this era.
I'm no DLH fan but that's right, he's done more wonders for Boxing in a business aspect than anyone

^^And don't expect him to be gone anytime soon. His promotional company will be around for some time and even though it's a young company, he's got a great stable of fighters already.

I am going to keep it real.... HBO "hyped" De La Hoya up his whole career. De La Hoya is a good fighter but keep it real man. I don't see what he has done so much for boxing besides box just like everybody else.

Everyone wanted to see De La Hoya win... you can tell from listening to the commentators during the fight. Once De La Hoya started walking into them right hands from Mayweather the commentators started talking like the fight was over.... and this was in like round 8 or 9.

But come on now De La Hoya ain't all that. HBO hyped him up to the point where people thought he was untouchable.

So in other words he'll enter the Hall Of Fame by popular demand but not because of his talent? Fair enough, he's no Ali..
Have you seen the inductees of the boxing hall of fame? Oscar easily makes it, and fits right in.

I agree with everything ya'll say mostly, great business man, plenty of heart, one of the biggest money draws in boxing, won a few championships, very accomplished individual. I'd just rather not see his name next to Leonard, or Hearns, or Hagler, or Monzon, or Duran, or Robinson, etc.. All of those guys have won their toughest fights first of all and besides that the skill disparity is obvious. Oscar is not in that league, therefore by strict standards he is not a future hall of famer imo..

People tend to forget that Oscar started out as a 130-135 fighter and made won belts all the way up to 160 and fought a future light heavyweight champ, I think he deserves everything he has.

But he lost, like most of the others who fought Hopkins... How is he special for getting knocked out by a future light heavyweight champ?

But he lost...
So...Floyd started out at the same weight, do you think he beats Hopkins? Why were on that subject, do you think he beats Trinidad, a prime Mosely, a prime Quartey, Pernel, a juiced Vargas, etc? I think he loses a fight or two if he took the same path.

All of this is scenario video game boxing, who knows, it's impossible to say.. A lot of people on here said Floyd couldn't take De La Hoya because of size, opinions are worthless.. In reality De La Hoya lost too much, and Floyd is undefeated, that's all we have to go by for now if we're to be objective.

True, but it's easy to downplay someone when they have losses and to up someone who doesn't, but then you look at their opponents and it's easy to see who's had the tougher career.

if oscar isnt a hall of famer then neither is floyd.
I think both are hall of famers. Oscar is a good/great fighter. Every fight of his has been entertaining I am not going to lie. But Floyd is a lock for the Hall of Fame. His record speaks for itself...38-0? How many belts does he have? The man is undefeated in every professional fight has has had.

You know what I'm saying, "tough" career as in fighting the better opposition.

On a side note, is it possible to edit your post in poll thread? I want to edit something and it's not giving me the option.

I think he'd beat all of them.
