Anyone else hoping this turns into a Trilogy ?

This fight is great for the sport of boxing, and I think its brough a lot of 'average boxing fans' attention back on the sport, which I think is very important, because 'the average fan' makes up the bulk of the sport's fanbase.

I was reading in the Chronicle this morning, that Floyd Jr didn't even invite his dad to the fight. It was Oscar who paid for his suite at The MGM as well as a ringside ticket.

SMH @ Little Floyd. Regardless of their differences, thats your pops, he gave you life, and the foundation of what made you rich.

No doubt if this fight is the slightest bit close or contains any type of controversy, there will be a rematch!

And yes I agree this fight is huge for boxing. I really like what they did with that 24/7 and getting behind the scenes. Makes the fighters more close and personal and the viewers can really "get to know" who the fighters really are.

Only thing I wish is that 24/7 was on regular TV and not HBO. If boxing really wants to widen their fanbase they NEED to get some shit on TV (besides the no-name, washed-up Wed/Friday night fights).

I totally agree MOREBASS... they may have had their differences but it's time to set them aside. His dad was the first to start training him and if this is his last fight he should have his dad be involved somehow.

Man if he didn't invite his dad to the fight, KARMA may catch up to Mayweather. He's trippin' if he didn't pay his dad's way to the fight.

Any sensible person should know that De La Hoya is going to get his ass handed to him like Shane Mosley did to him twice in his prime! Not to mention that Mayweather is much faster than Mosley ever was (excluding when he was at light weight) so De La Hoya doesn't stand the slightest of a chance unless he gets in a lucky punch, which I doubt very seriously.. I can be moded though, but again, I doubt it..

I don't know if Mayweather is "much" faster than Sugar Shane Mosely...Sugar throws combinations. Mayweather is more of a counter-puncher. He's quick but I wouldn't say he's much faster than Mayweather.

You don't think so? I thought that it was heavily agreed upon through consensus that Mayweather is the fastest in the game.. Yea, Shane is quick but I couldn't see him out boxing Mayweather, maybe it was a bit of an overstatement though to say "much faster", just a little faster, but noticeably so..

In my honest opinion I think Sugar Shane Mosely is faster than Mayweather. Judging from the fights that I've seen...

I agree. Just look at what TV did for UFC and Pride. Especially now, boxing needs something more than Friday Night Fights to be able to compete.

Shane Mosley didn't hand him his ass. If you watched both fights, you would see that Shane barely won the first one, and the second, I actually thought that Oscar had a more decisive win than Shane did in the first one !

As far as Shane & Floyd. I would have to say that Shane looks a bit faster than Floyd @ 147. And I've heard that a few sparring partners who have worked with both agreed.

I don't know, I respect ya'lls opinion but I guess we'll just have to see how Floyd measures up then against De La Hoya compared to how Mosley did. And You're right MOREBASS, the second De La Hoya/Mosley fight was controversial, not as controversial as Trinidad/De La Hoya imo, but De La Hoya could of definitely got the win, but I still think Shane out hustled him both times..

This is a dream match....
For years I wondered if it would happen but after De La Hoya hooked up with Floyd Sr., it seemed very unlikely.

But here it is upon us, just days away....

Yes this fight is huge for boxing, but I think it's too late to save the sport.
It will be boxing's last super fight for a very long time.
With the growing popularity of MMA, boxing could use a transcending fighter the likes of Muhammed Ali, Sugar Ray Leanard, or Oscar De La Hoya. Unfortunately, there isn't a fighter in boxing's radar to step up after De La Hoya puts the gloves down.

I am going to enjoy this fight like the last night with your soon to be ex....

::poem written by floyd sr bout de la hoya, hahahaa !!::

Oscar, I heard you have a new coach, and his name is Freddie Roach.
Can he train you? Yes he can. But can he come to your aid? That's like fighting my son with an empty can of Raid.
I'm being for real and saying what I feel. This is the truest note I've ever wrote.
Oscar, you're at the crossroads. You have to go to the right or you have to go to the left. You can't depend on nobody else.
There's nothing personal between me and you. We need to do what we have to do.
When you beat those old legends, they were over the hill. Now you're about to swallow the same pill.
Come May 5th you better be ready, because when you lose I don't want you blaming it on Freddie.
Oscar, greed overcame common sense. You don't have a clue that money don't make you.
You're ungrateful, unfaithful and disrespectful. You shocked my mind. You're one of a kind. You're the cheapest promoter of all time.
So get your tickets now and let's make it clear, because your May 5th whipping is almost here.
