Actually Mac Dre was real popular in the early 90's. He was a major part of the whole scene back in those days. It doesn't make sense to try to say this and that rapper is either "old bay" or "new bay" when he was there during both fucking eras... same for San Quinn... that whole logic is faulty.

One more fact, while some of this hyphy shit have beats made on Fruity Loops, the Old Bay had beats by the big badass Ant Banks, Rick Rock...etc

now compare them
sayin tha beats are made on fruity loops isn't bad...9th wonder makes ALL his beats on fruity loops and he's a big name producer. even if y'all don't kno about him, i bet y'all either kno his beats or, if i name a song wit his beat, y'all gonna wanna kno his shit

here's an outsiders perspective. i'm from michigan and we fucked with yall, mac mall, celly cell, the click ect. i came up on the old shit. i still fuck wit it. shit we just did an hour on spice 1 on our radio show today. but i dig that new bay shit too, it's on some wile out fun time type shit. and in an age of hip hop homogenization it's good to see these cats have their own sound. so props to the bay for keeping your own style.

I still wonder what some of the producers from the 90's are up to musically these days like Ant Banks, Studio Ton, Sam Bostic, Khayree etc.

to me the "Golden Era" of the Bay will always reign supreme....We had our own sound, we made REAL shit (not necessarily for the dancefloors) and the region SUPPORTED the albums....Hopefully after people stop dancing we can make some gangsta shit again lol....But my favorite Golden Era producers are:

Mike Mosley/Sam Bostic
Johnny Z
Ant Banks
Khayree
Studio Ton
TC
Sean T
