ask Tommy Lee Jones why he looked like he didnt even wanna be in the movie.that man looked bored dead....lol....i seen him apologizing in his mind to his fans wile the movie was playing like "please forgive me i needed a paycheck"....

do these "Cohen brothers" guys always make these kind of movies?
That is how his character is portrayed in general, I just started reading the book and he is pretty dead on with his portrayal. He did a great job in the film.

Cohen brothers movies are pretty diverse so I wouldn't really say so. They do have a lot of dark humor in them though.

Just curious, what would you say are the three best movies you've seen this year?

I liked the ending because it was out the norm. Like I said before people like closure in movies and this doesn't have that, that's what made the ending dope to me. It's more realistic that way (even though a lot of what happens in the movie isn't very realistic lol)

Nice list of best movies for this year, I liked them all except Grindhouse, I found that movie(s) alright at best. 3:10 to Yuma is surely in my top 5 as well. I don't think the others would be in my top 5 but they were all good movies.

Grindhouse, or at least the driving one, was fuckin awful. I know Quentin likes to build shit up with dailoge, but 45 minutes of absolutely NOTHING, was such a waste of my time. about 3% of the dialogue had ANY relevance to the actual plot.

"american gangster","300","transformers" and "no place" was the only movies i watch that came out this year and i didnt like the end of american gangsta.transformers graphics was cool but they all looked like walking junk yards.300 was a good movie though.you already know how i feel about no place...

I just got my hands on a excellent copy of this film the other day and watched it last night. Hence: It was free.

...but had I paid to see it in a theater, my opinion would remain the same.

Overall: It had a great story, plenty of suspence and very intence scenes which kept me riding out until the end.

The ending, I thought was a surprise (to say the least), but was good IMO. I don't see a problem with it. Other than not having the typical hero ending, it was explained in the scene where Tommy Lee Jones' charater and his brother (in the movie) are talking about how things have changed. About the younger generation etc etc...(I won't spoil it).

It's all in the title gentlemen: "No Country For Old Men"

Those that beg to differ and dislike the film for having the ending it did. Only proves it to be more realistic IMO. Even after you chase after something your whole life, you can't always get what you want. Sometimes you just have to deal with the cards you are given in this life. And the most important thing (which is common sence), once you got away...never go back to the scene of the crime.

That's what I got out of the movie.

One of my favorite movies of all time, not a movie to watch if you like typical hollywood storylines, as it goes play by play with the book. It has alot of literary influences and if you take it at face value I can see how the shit would be boring and the ending disappointing.

No Country had NO business winning that award...the movie was sub-par, and it had NOTHING to do with the "bullshit ending".

The movie won TOO many awards that could have gone to other/better counterparts.
what movie deserved best picture, iyo?

2007 was pretty weak for films:
There will be blood
No country for old men
Assassination of Jesse James

Were tops in my book.

But all three were very dark and almost nihilistic - they lacked any real substance or point to the films. Definitely a theme of this years films.

Only other films worth mentioning were Michael Clayton and 3:10 to Yuma, neither I think were better than the three I listed.

So, I guess I don't understand why the movie had "no business" winning the award with such a sub-par year in movies. Only a personal opinion on which top movie should have won (swap There will be blood with No Country, for instance).
