On the poll I voted no, but my reasoning is a little different from everyone else. Shaun Hill needs to be our starting QB, period.
I think you got a really good point. Hill has helped make the last two seasons LOOK like we have some hope. So after the first season we sat him? I don't know.

Asfar as decent wide receivers, I REALLY REALLY think Morgan and Hill are capable of providing a good supporting cast. Both have proved they can move and get in the end zone when they get the ball and they both are determined to be good and stay with the Niners. Im not promising no Jerry Rices here but why not have two young guys who want to be here make something happen.

In my opinion something that has been talked about very little in the off season is the need of another running back. Yes Frank Gore looks great but he's coming up on a fifth year now. He's probably got another year or two before he starts to slow down a bit. You just hired a coach who says he wants to run the ball more than pass. Why not go out and get another great running back to compliment Gore and mix it up a bit? In my opinion this is actually more important than grabbing a top receiver in the draft. Get someone to run the ball if we have the oppurtunity. We'll play time of posession all day. We're good at it.

Saw somthing in a different forum http://www.49erswebzone.com/forum/thread.php?num=116414

What do ya'll think?

I think we should bring him back. IMO the first year didn't count, last year he didnt play, year before that he was injured, and his 2nd year showed some promise. I think we should give him another shot, with the pay cut of course. I mean dude was IR this year and still on the sidelines trying to help out. I think with Singletary in as coach now, and the way things are looking he might have a chance of learning a system and grow.

Discuss.

I agree with the wide receiver situation, a lot of people don't realize that at the combine the year J. Hill came out, he had the faster times for a WR then Calvin Johnson(Hill had the second fastes 40 time for all offensive players 4.32, only behind Yamon Figures-4.3), and everyone always talks about Johnsons speed. He's shown that he can hold onto the ball and move the sticks.

I've said the same thing about the running back situation. Look at the successful teams and they all have 2 or 3 running backs that get touches. With the load that Gore gets, he's gonna break down quick, especially at his size.

Just as much I wanted Nolan to be fired, I want Alex Smith out of there as well. Smith was Nolan's hype and that's about it, in 06 he was sacked like 35 times, 11 fumbles and had 16 INT's and like 2,850 yds. The guy is a complete failure and a let down, a waste of fucking money! Nolan knew from the start that he had a complete failure in his hands but he believed that Smith would outgrow in the upcoming seasons...

I say we trade him for an O-line vet or a good WR as well.....

What suckers are going to give away an O-Line vet or a good WR for Alex Smith? We'll be lucky to get a late 2nd day pick for his ass. He hasn't done anything to prove he would be worth it. I know there are plenty of excuses for him, some of which are valid, but no team is going to take that shit into consideration when they think of his trade value.

Nobody will trade for smith...After 3 years Smith has proven hes injury prone and a system qb. He can't cut it in a pro style offense. There's a reason why Cassell has done good filling in for Brady in the nfl when he didnt even start at USC. USC runs a pro style offense and even though he didnt start he was light years ahead of smith coming out of college cuz he already knew how to make better reads sitting on the bench at usc than smith did starting in a spread offense at utah.

people who think a team would actually trade for a player like smith is madden-minded...why would you GIVE UP something for an player that hasnt proven shit?

plenty of serviceable FAs on the street, which wouldnt cost as much and you wouldnt have to give anything in return.....

get it together folks...gotta think before you type
