Cold Turkey is the least likely way to quit. You need the replacements like the gum or the patch. I got on the gum and after about a month quit the gum and was straight.

The key and best advice i have is if you slip up, that doesn't mean you have to start all the way up again. So if you quit for 3 days and slipped up, fuck it charge it 2 the game and get back on the horse.

Use the gum homey. That smoking shit was a monster in me and if you don't feed that shit it dies. But first you gotta wean yourself off that shit and show some will power.

Also you only ready to quit if you can crush those cigarettes in your pocket right now. All that bullshit about i will quit at a less stressful time is an excuse to smoke.

Take it from a pro homey, i smoked from ages 12 to 24. I am now 26.

whatever dude im through with it. i dont understand what i said in the first place that made you explode?
it personally looked like you took offense to me taking about cigs as if i was calling the shit a stupid habit and brought up cough syrup out of left field as some sort of 'response' to me. i explained the coke thing because i brought it up. but liek you said, youre through with it so lets just move on.

That is crazy, when i was smoking i couldn't miss a day of smoking or else i would get sick as hell. And mentally i would start thinking evil thoughts like punching random people in the face.
never happened to me...and i guess thats the side of it i dont understand...

damn thats funny you said that. ive had packs that ive crushed and threw out of my car window. or ill stop at the liquor store and throw the shit in the trash before i bounce. but it wasnt because i was ready to quit, i just knew that i didnt need the other 17 something cigs and i bought a pack when i was faded just for those 3.

i think i would have smoked them, had they just sat in my car.

yea thats my thing too, if i have ciggs, i will smoke them. i think where i draw the line of addiction is people who are not picky. for instance, if you dont have a menthol that costed at least 6$ for the pack, then im cool on bumming a cigg off you. but if you got a kool or newport its mildly hard to turn down. impossible to turn down if im drunk. but when i buy a bottle i usually buy ciggs, so its nothing. after a drunk night, ill realize i smoked too much, and ill quit for a few days. also, your addicted if you snipe, thats just that.

whats sniping? looking for people who have cigs?

i think thats sort of an adolescent thing, after a while you should be old enough to buy a pack of cigarettes, whether its for one cigarette or the whole pack.

i think theres two different types of people who ask for cigarettes, the type that get caught up into doing it because others do it, and those that had the shit on their mind before they even went to the area where people smoke. what i mean by the first one is sometimes people will be smoking weed, and a person who dosent smoke weed will smoke just to be communal.

i remember when i was younger i eventually realized it was like me trying to get things from other people because it made me feel like i had a power over them if i was able to walk up to them and just outright ask for something and get it, like if i saw a person slapping a pack of cigs on their palm it made me think of asking for one because they had so many and it was their bad for doing that in public and they couldnt outright say no.

i was always fairly liberal with any pack i had, if someone asked they could have one. or ill give them 3 and they get all thankful, but i dont care. once again i guess cuz i knew i was gonna throw the shit away.

i had a homie on siccness who was like that with weed, he didnt smoke anymore like that and one day he just gave me some weed, he was liek here just take some....and i was like wtf....but i guess its the same thing and reversed roles..

sniping is getting cigg halfs left by god knows who, burning the filter a bit to get the random persons saliva off it, and smoking the partially smoked cigg. and about asking for ciggs, i know a third type, and thats the type that will walk to a gocery store, and if they cant snipe they ask everyone they see who looks like a smoker, if they can bum a cigg

edit: as far as sniping, i wont even smoke my own halfs, i just toss the half out, so i dunno how people can smoke other peoples halfs that they havent even seen, let alone know.

Addiction to nicotine is a pretty basic subject imo and lies along the exact same lines as any other human addiction or habit in existence. Any understanding of behavioral psychology will tell you how quickly the brain forms attachments to doing certain actions, especially those related to bodily functions like oral fixation. Its the same shit as anything that forms the way a person acts.. i dont smoke cigs but if you dont understand why people do, youre clearly missing something thats common in ALL humans :/

you can become addicted to anything that has that sort of availabilty

but what sort of addiction are we talking about?

you can psychologically be addicted to candy

but you cant be addicted to something you dont have the money or the ability to find on a consistent basis

you may WANT it, but im unsure if that should be classified as addiction personally
Why do you think crack heads and junkies rob people????

An addiction is classified as something you crave and do not have will power over.

And i think people are misunderstanding what "physically addicted" means.

^ lmao uhhh what?

i didnt ask the definition of addiciton..lol..nevermind dog

people completely misunderstood what me saying 'i dont understand cigarette addiction' meant...it meant i cant get addicted to them and i dont get that aspect personally because i cant get addicted to them. i didnt say i didnt understand cigarette addiction for the billions of other people in the world (my dad smoked, i saw it first hand), how another person could happen to get addicted to them, the textbook definition of addiction, or why people rob for crack.

i just dont get it personally, just like if you got addicted to eating the skin off your fingers, i wouldnt get that either regardless of the psychological explanation of it,because i never got into eating the skin off my fingers habitually.

Have you ever smoke cigarettes?

Not everyone gets addicted. IMHO, tabacco addiction is also habit forming, i.e. smoking after meals, when you're bored, after sex, when you get up in the morning, etc. It becomes routine.

Tobacco addiction is in the same ballpark as caffeine addiction.

And the comment about physical addiction wasn't necessarily aimed at you.

yes. ive already mentioned that ive smoked cigarettes, for many different reasons, but i never picked a habit up.

those reasons have ranged from drunk nights, the 8 hour road trips where i smoked a pack, to smoke breaks in 6 hour art classes, to childhood playing with my dads cigarettes

i just couldnt and cant get addicted to cigs and in that sense i do not get it.

but shit we can even say i dont get coke addiction from a first hand standpoint even if i understand the text definition of it. because i dont like cocaine like that, and repeated use really isnt gonna change my mind.

i see absolutely no problem with cigarettes but someone could tell me to smoke at certain times every day many times a day, for a month or two and id still be able to quit the shit at the end of the day with no sort of issue in response to doing so. so i dont get it.

Like i said, not everyone gets addicted to smoking. Some only do it in social settings like having a drink. My buddy will smoke every now and again when he is drunk, but doesn't touch em when sober.

But as mentioned, just about ANYTHING can be addictive, just depends on the person.

the thing that makes it hard for me to completely quit cigs is this.

you could live your life being all healthy and shit like not smoke stoges, not drink, eat healthy foods, etc., etc.
But that doesn't mean you're going to live a long life necessarily. you could walk across the street and get hit by a fucking bus. you could get in a car accident. you could get blasted over mistaken identity. you never know when you're gonna go.

So it makes it kinda hard to quit bad habits thinking this way.
