for the record, cigg addiction comes from habit. people form habits, and are in fact creatures of habit. if when i get stressed i go have a cigg, and i do that quite a few times, it just becomes a habit. i dont even have to think about it. when i have none, and i get stressed i go find some out of habit, cause i dont wanna break the little rut i got into. everyone has patterns, ruts or habits. calling someones rut or habit stupid when you yourself have one as well, no matter what it be is just pointless.

i said i didnt understand how poeple could get addicted to cough syrup, believe it or not i wasnt originally talking bout you...

we're having a conversation about addiction and i brought up one that i dont understand, not outta left field at all

relax DJ screw i thought we were having an intelligent conversation, you shared a story with me about monkeys doing coke, i mentioned syrup one time and you freaked out like i spoke on your family or something. anyways im not one for the message board arguments so carry on:siccness:
who gives a fuck what you dont understand though? im talking about cigarettes and how i dont understand how people become addicted to it, from a personal standpoint. which is on topic to the thread 'newport smokers'. I dont give a fuck about what you don't understand, So what prompted you to respond to me in the first place? The only reason coke got brought up initially is because alot of cocaine addicts are also cigarette addicts, and because 'you dont understand it' so i decided to shed light, so maybe youll learn something. i actually ignored the cough syrup thing the first time, because i personally dont know anyone addicted to cough syrup. but i do know alot of people addicted to coke, much like cigs, hence sharing the monkey story.

Then you brought it up again, and apparently 'i talk about it all the time' so wouldnt it look like youre talking to me?

if you dont understand coke or opiate addiction read a book. but ive used cigarettes and i dont understand how you can get addicted to them. i understand coke and opiate addiction. go figure.

but whos really a cough syrup addict? i dont know anyone who can afford to be one.

Its strictly neurological at first, which in turns turns physical. Unlike narcotics, it doesn't give you a "high", which is why you may not understand it (and I dont blame you).

People say that it "calms" down stress induced attacks. Which makes little sense because cigarettes are considered "stimulants".

whos really a cough syrup addict? i dont know anyone who can afford to be one.
Didn't some Bay rapper admit to having a lean problem? Or was that Lil Wayne? I believe Pimp C died from complications from it. I think DJ Screw may have to, ironically enough.

ANY drug can be addictive, it doesn't matter the price. Look at coke. That shit aint cheap and there are PLENTY of coke addicts. Hell, ANYTHING can be addictive, from sex to the interwebz.

you can become addicted to anything that has that sort of availabilty

but what sort of addiction are we talking about?

you can psychologically be addicted to candy

but you cant be addicted to something you dont have the money or the ability to find on a consistent basis

you may WANT it, but im unsure if that should be classified as addiction personally

nah, i know that. for instance, ill buy a pack of cigs when im on a road trip and i smoke out of habit. because im driving. and ill smoke when i take breaks on the road after i eat etc.. when i was in long beach i was smoking cigs. but the thing is its always been something i could pick up and then stop without becoming attached to it. and on the other side of things, i smoke weed and i understand that. i couldnt talk shit about cigs if i smoke them myself, i know what theyre for... i just cant get addicted to them for some sort of reason.

im guessing its as simple as me not liking them enough to get addicted to it although i can use them at the same time. maybe not. really i was just tripping on the nature of addiction and how its not necessarily 'do it and become hooked'

alot of 'full time smokers' also dont understand how the fuck i can do that and usually say im lucky.

Yeah but just because you can't physically addicted or psychologically addicted doesn't mean that shit ain't addictive to other people. Drop all the other drugs you do and just smoke cigarettes and i bet you would get addicted.

now your making more sense. i understand where your going with this now, i too agree being addicted physically is stupid. and by that i mean, i got homies who will down a pack in 4 hours, and freak out cause they need money for more. that is stupid. i can go a couple weeks without even thinking about smoking, get some money and think a cigg sounds good and buy a pack. a pack lasts me 4 days, thats with letting people bum ciggs off me. so i wouldnt say im addicted. im more or less just stuck in the rut of smoking after certain things.

nah i wasnt saying that it isnt addictive, theres obvious proof of that dating back in history to now...i did moderate the detox forum. and no i wouldnt get addicted to cigarettes. thats exactly what im getting at by saying i dont understand it. ive smoked them in periods of my life and dropped them immediately with no issue. i wasnt looking down on people who suffer from cigarette addiction all i was sayin is, i dont understand getting addicted from a personal level.

cosign. thats exactly what i mean.

theres nothing wrong with smoking cigs, i just dont understand cigarette addiction from a first hand standpoint. not as a 'user' and not in a third person standpoint.

i guess my opinion of 'cigarette addiction' comes from having family who smoked cigs 24/7...and thats a lil different than people who smoke on they drunk night out or cuz theyre stressin that week..

That is crazy, when i was smoking i couldn't miss a day of smoking or else i would get sick as hell. And mentally i would start thinking evil thoughts like punching random people in the face.
