A deaf man could pick better beats than Nas. Overall, the album is dope and Nas really came with the lyrical heat on this. Def worth the purchase price.
The album would have been doper without the Summer on Smash joint and the sub-par Rick Ross feature. Rick Ross says the same shit on every track he has ever recorded and is beyond uninspiring. Smh!
Give this album a 8.334.

I'm just over Nas at this point I think. Haven't been able to get into his new stuff for a while now. I can tell this is higher quality than the weak albums he's dropped, it just does nothing for me.

Don't get your chonies all in a bunch; we can agree to disagree. The beats on this album and Nas' last three, Hip hop is Dead in particular, didn't really move me. I'm talking SPECIFICALLY about the beats, not the vocal arrangements, not the pitches, not the tones, THE BEAT. The joint by Swizz is f'n horrible.

Miss Lady ...so what kind of production were you expecting out of this album?

I thought the beats perfectly matched all the tracks....

Once again, I am specifically speaking about the BEATS. I'm not talking about the actual production of the track, vocal arrangements, etc. I wont get deep into music theory and all that.
I didn't expect any thing per say. Before I sat down and listened to the album in its entirety, I made sure that my mind was clear. I did know that the Swizz Beatz joint was going to be garbage. He rarely delivers any thing of substance, if ever *gasface*. To each their own, but the fanaticism and dick riding that occurs when it comes to some fans and certain producers that they "like" is just mind boggling.
To answer your question. I prefer beats that are bit more complex. Beatmaking in general has become so formulaic and mechanical and less organic. It is really hard to appreciate some of the simplistic beats that are featured on this album.
