Yes he talks about Kelis, his daughter, his friends that are dead or not around ...but to me it looks like he's ready to start again and re-invent himself..

Great message and it's a breath of fresh air for hip hop listeners because there's nobody else that has album like that right now...

Exactly. Hip hop is about expressing yourself and showing your feelings through music. The element that invented hip hop.

better than illmatic? damn. he was dope on illmatic tho. u talkin about lyrics? but i didnt listen to this new 1 yet. and im 1 of the not so many that say his best work is it was written.

It Was Written was my first Nas album, so I am biased towards it. I went to the store to cop Illmatic but it was sold out, so I settled for IWW. I was happy with it. I personally never really got into Illmatic.

Better than illmatic? well to each their own but this is def not better than illmatic IMO. I would give this album a 3/5 since it doesn't have a high replay value as a album just a select few songs.

Album is not god-tier but damn does he spit raw feelings on some of these songs. He's definitely giving us his emotions on some tracks and i can see why some people might not like that. Can't ignore the fact he is speaking from the heart. Though some of the beats are wack, his flow is on point.
