Only 1 single out not bad...

...By the way I notice out on the East Coast there are folks askin about Hyphy all over the place but the music is pretty much blacklisted in the clubs, bars, etc...

haha theyve banned hyphy music? haha that's just gonna bring more attention to it. They don't ban super thug shit, but they ban hyphy? Oh shit, yet again, the West is bringin controversy in the rap game!

Somebody tell me how 40 a flop. Multiplatinum artist like mary j sold 173,000 in the first week, and she sell 4 to 8 million a record. 40 fan base aint but 500,000. 93,000 in the first week is good, and regardless if he got mainsteam promotion he's not a mainstream artist. His raps aint mainstream, the single "tell me when to go" was still some bay shit even though lil jon did the track, far from mainstream. The word mainstream is tricky too. Alot of the shit that come out the south aint mainstream, its just pushed in yo face so much on t.v. people accept it as that.

Exactly, with no machinery, one video, and virtually no further promotion. And he debuted lower, at number 4! That's telling you that this is a flop, and the only reason that he is number 3 is because no one else did anything last week. Yukmouth put out mixtapes that did close to this in the first week, 93,000 is below average no matter what any of these Bay dudes try and tell themselves. Joe Budden's debut did better than this, c'mon now. Admit it and stop making excuses, didn't no body want to buy this shit. The only reason you guys think it's a good number is because Bay rappers have been independent and haven't been doin number over 10,000 (San Quinn did 6)in first week sales. 40 was like the only one being signed to Jive. I ain't tryna be the barer of bad news, but you guys look really stupid getting hyped up over 93,000 sales. The rest of the country is probably laughing at you niave motha fuckas. Anyone who tells you that these numbers are good aren't being objective and they are most likely an E-40 fan and/or from the Bay.
bla bla bla you are a dumbfuck aren't you. 40 did 126k first week in 96, that was the west coast heyday, right after his classic in a major way dropped, u sayin no promotion? were u even alive back then? jesus christ

and no yukmouth mixtape sold 95k in one week, much less 100k overall. if u believe that you truly know nothing about the music industry

AND YES buddens sold more beause he had PUMP IT up and is an east coast artist! i think thinking 40 flopped must make your dick hard or something...no this sales aren't really impressive but it aint a flop either

So what dog, the point is, is that he's signed to a mainstream label, got mainstream exposure, and they put mainstream money behind that nigga's project. All of the new artists start off with a lack of fans, Flip, T.I, Luda, all of them were underground just like 40. But the difference is when they finally went mainstream, niggas actually felt their shit so their debuts were a lot better and they went plat.
dude what is you talkin about all the artist you named been out on the under ground doin it. 40 already been major he got a certain amount of loyal fan base and a hater base. He aint commin out like a new artist that the rest of the nation dont know about. He commin out tryin to get new fans. Thats different when you already been out for a while.

Blah, Blah, Blah. Yo dead homies are dumb as fuck. Anyways,
You are naive. Yukmouth said it him self. All Out War did close to that, I didn't say it reached it. And get off the east coast nuts. Joe Budden didn't just sell in the East, the East is New York, Pennsylvania, and Jersy. 3 States! Obviously everyone else felt his shit more than 40s. Not to mention that he did better than 40 and still got dropped. We are talkin mainstream numbers dog, what about everyone elses Debut? Chingy? Jeezy? All of those cats were underground. Quit makin excuses. "He's from the west and BET wouldn't help out", fuck outta here! Gay ass excuses, ya man floped!
Joe Budden had the number 1 single in rap. He only sold 90k the first week. He had hella promo with a number 1 single! 40 is now just getting in the billboard top ten of rap songs! Not to mention 40 is not even on the 106 and Park countdown or TRL. Hell he's not even on the Direct Effect countdown.

For him to do over 90k the first week is good.

Just because you see his video on MTV2 in major rotation doesn't mean he is bound to platinum the first week. I know hella people out here who didn't even know 40's album dropped. MTV2 isn't a major outlet like regular MTV. He is going to go gold atleast. Tell me when to go is now just getting major play. In my eyes he did not flop because nobody heard tell me when to go before the album dropped.

lol aka be puttin way to much on it, it's nothing man, no need to hate on 40 water he doin his thing, I'm just glad mtv bet mainstream is even fuckin wit us. Nothing is going to happen over night, us in the bay area have been going dumb, stupid, all of that for years. It's good to turn on the TV and see Tell Me When to go, niggas dancin on top of cars and shakin dreds at Bens Burger yadda. Just give the album some time, it's only the 1st week, once that U and Dat single drops people going to be feelin that in the clubs, more of a club track. But anyways, this is only the start. Soon the Bay Area will have more artist on Bet and MTV, it has to start some were. The world will get on our hype sooner or later.

i cant believe how often people get on here thinkin they know what the fuck they are talkin about. nearly 100k the first week? that is HUGE for 40. #1 rap/r&b album and #3 overall? come on. and not to mention the fact that the album was sold out in hella stores all week. If they had only stocked more there is no doubt in my mind that he would have been #1

If your point were to be valid, that it's because he already has a million haters, Then 40 will never go plat. The whole point of the promo was to expose him to a new audience. If that audience isn't new, and they've already designated hate for him, then what else can he do? I don't really buy that excuse coz like I said, if it were true then he'll never have enough of a new audience that will like him because the majority already hates him.
There is no new audience to expose him to, thery are re-exposing him to the same audiene with more promotion to get more attention. Everybody already know about 40, but not everyone has a 40 cd. In someway or another everybody has heard of 40, whether its slang, his music, or somebody saying "you heard of e-40, he hella weak." Its the fans that was told he was weak and wont buy his shit that we tryin to reach.

^^ what are you arguing here? are you dissapointed by e-40 only sellin 100k? are u now ashamed of yo area? did you go buy that album? i don't see the point of talkin down about the situation here, everyone else pretty much happy fo 40 and the exposure the bay gettin i don't see how arguin about 100k sales matters.

*E40 is #2 on power106LA whens da last time a bay artist done that?
i think he's pretty high up there on other stations too.
How can you expect so much from 1 album that like someone said previously, is a brand new sound and e-40 is a brand new artist in their eyes... i don't think u really understand, i highly doubt the tell me when to go video cost that much if your arguin that e-40's sales won't beable to recoop fo the cost of the project.....
