Bellator MMA said:

Today, Bellator MMA was compelled to go to court to stop Quinton "Rampage" Jackson from fighting in an April 25th bout promoted by Bellator's competitor, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Jackson, who has completed only three fights of his exclusive six-fight contract with Bellator, is barred by contract from fighting for any promoter other than Bellator. Our lawsuit for an injunction and related relief - filed in the Chancery Division of the Superior Court in Burlington County, New Jersey - will compel Jackson to honor his contractual agreement. We look forward to having one of our MMA stars fighting for Bellator again.

Josh Burkman vs. Dong Hyun Kim added to May's blockbuster UFC 187 event

A stacked UFC 187 lineup continues to fill with quality matchups, as UFC officials today announced the addition of Josh Burkman (27-11 MMA, 5-6 UFC) vs. Dong Hyun Kim (19-3-1 MMA, 10-3 UFC) to the card.

Featuring title fights in both the light heavyweight and middleweight divisions, UFC 187 takes place May 23 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The night’s five-fight main card airs on pay-per-view while prelims are expected to air on FOX Sports 1 and stream on UFC Fight Pass.

An official bout order for the evening has yet to be released.

“The People’s Warrior” Burkman ended his first UFC run in 2008 and was forced to win his way back while competing on the regional stage. Five fights under the WSOF banner helped him get back to the octagon, but he suffered a January loss to Hector Lombard (though the result may be overturned due to Lombard’s pending issues with the Nevada State Athletic Commission).

“Stun Gun” Kim is currently ranked No. 12 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA welterweight rankings. The Korean was building on a four-fight winning streak before running into Tyron Woodley this past August, when he suffered a first-round knockout loss.

With the latest addition to the card, UFC 187 now includes:
•Champ Jon Jones vs. Anthony Johnson – for light heavyweight title
•Champ Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort – for middleweight title
•Donald Cerrone vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
•Andrei Arlovski vs. Travis Browne
•Josh Burkman vs. Dong Hyun Kim
•Joseph Benavidez vs. John Moraga
•John Dodson vs. Zach Makovsky
•Nina Ansaroff vs. Rose Namajunas
•Mike Pyle vs. Sean Spencer
•Leo Kuntz vs. Islam Makhachev
•Josh Sampo vs. Justin Scoggins

UFC Fight Night 66 adds Mousasi vs. Philippou, Lim vs. Magny

The UFC’s first event in Philippines continues to take shape with the addition of middleweights Gegard Mousasi (36-5-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) vs. Costas Philippou (13-4 MMA, 6-3 UFC) and welterweights Hyun Gyu Lim (13-4-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) vs. Neil Magny (14-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC).

UFC officials today announced the new matchups.

Featuring a featherweight matchup between Frankie Edgar and Urijah Faber, UFC Fight Night 66 takes place May 16 at SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Philippines. Due to the time difference, the show airs on FOX Sports 1 on May 15 in the U.S.

Mousasi, who’s currently ranked No. 5 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA middleweight rankings, looks to build on the strength of a January win over Dan Henderson. He now meets Philippou, who’s ranked No. 13. Philippou had struggled with consecutive losses to Luke Rockhold and Francis Carmont but in May picked up a knockout win over Lorenz Larkin.

Magny looks to extend his impressive six-fight winning streak when he takes on Lim, whose only loss in his past nine appearances came in a January 2014 loss to Tarec Saffiedine.

With the additions to the card, UFC Fight Night 66 now includes:
•Frankie Edgar vs. Urijah Faber
•Gegard Mousasi vs. Costas Philippou
•Hyun Gyu Lim vs. Neil Magny
•Jon Delos Reyes vs. Roldan Sangcha-an
•Kajan Johnson vs. Lipeng Zhang
•Tae Hyun Bang vs. Jon Tuck
•Li Jingliang vs. Roger Zapata
•Nolan Ticman vs. Zhuikui Yao
•Yui Chul Nam vs. Phillipe Nover
•Mark Eddiva vs. Alex White

Daniel Cormier criticizes Anthony Johnson for fake brawl with UFC champ Jon Jones

“That whole little thing they did at the press conference, you don’t want to do that as a challenger,” Cormier said on UFC 184’s post-fight show on FOX Sports 1. “Why would Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson want to be Jon Jones’ friend? I understand good sportsmanship, but don’t let him goad you into playing games with him. You are coming to take that guy’s livelihood. You’re his opponent. You go out and get that guy.”

While Cormier and Jones had an immense amount of tension and couldn’t be in close proximity to each other without a physical or verbal altercation, Johnson is typically respectful and rarely has issues with opponents.

Cormier said he’s in no way encouraging Johnson to leave his comfort zone to manufacture drama with Jones. He does, however, view the jokes as a major sign of weakness.

“Don’t be his friend and get you to be buddy-buddy with him,” Cormier said. “Don’t give him any comfort. Go after him and intimidate him. They’re going to fight in May, so you don’t need to go out and do it at the press conference. But again, I kind of disagree with that.

“It’s a game of inches, and you don’t want to concede to the champion that he can actually draw you in. It was pretty funny. They missed a couple things when they were in the back doing their choreography for their little skit in the back. They forgot a couple things.”

Brian Bowles among eight fighters released from the UFC

Former WEC bantamweight champion Brian Bowles highlights the list of recent UFC cuts.

Sources close to the situation told MMAFighting.com that the UFC has released Bowles, Stanislav Nedkov, Andy Ogle, Akira Corassani, Humberto Brown, Rodolfo Rubio, Juan Puig and Tim Gorman from their contracts.

Bowles (10-3) tested positive for elevated testosterone levels in his last UFC bout, a TKO loss to George Roop in 2013, and leaves the promotion after going 2-2 inside the Octagon. Bowles, who shocked the world with a first-round knockout victory over Miguel Torres in 2009, was arrested on drug charges in January.

Stanislav Nedkov (12-2, 1 no-contest) ends his UFC run after going winless in the past three bouts. The Bulgarian fighter impressed in his UFC debut in 2011, finishing Luiz Cane in the first round in Brazil, but then suffered stoppage losses to Thiago Silva (later overturned to a no-contest when Silva failed a drug test), Tom Watson and Nikita Krylov.

Andy Ogle (9-6) hasn’t won a fight since a unanimous decision over Josh Grispi on February 2013. Since that night, the British featherweight lost to Cole Miller, Charles Oliveira, Maximo Blanco and Makwan Amirkhani.

A member of the season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter, Akira Corassani (12-6, 1 no-contest), who started his UFC career 3-0 over Andy Ogle, Robbie Peralta and Maximo Blanco, lost three straight in 2014 and 2015, finished by Dustin Poirier, Max Holloway and Sam Sicilia.

TUF veterans Humberto Brown (4-5), Rodolfo Rubio (12-7) and Tim Gorman (9-4) compiled a combined record of 0-4 in the UFC. Juan Maunel Puig (11-4) leaves the promotion after back-to-back losses to Adriano Martins and Doo Ho Choi.

damn. I figured they'd do the Dodson as the main prelim. even Thug Rose since they banked so hard on her. Benavidez vs Moraga is a good main prelim but that woulda made the PPV that much more buyable.

still a very buyable PPV.
