He is not a winner! Someone else needs to take over the defense cuz his schemes are terrible. When they blitz teams are prepared for the blitz. With all the talen the Niners have on defense they should be able to put pressure on the QB. Esp. Cassel. Shit Miami threw the kitchen sink at him and it worked. Maybe Nolan should take a page out of Miami's playbook.

Fuckin SAD. I had faith in Nolan his first year, but ever since then I've lost all hope for the guy. I'm not a fan on Nolan. If we're not at .500 by mid season, best believe he's getting fired.

yep, Im starting to agree with this. After hearing Nolan put all the blame on the defense "not executing". His schemes seem to be the problem.

On another note I hope we can pry Roy Williams from the lions for a 3rd or 4th rounder!!

He should have been fired. I know the Alex Smith experiment didn't work but the Niners defense hasn't been good either and that was supposed to be Mike's strength. He's had enough of time to fix his defense but year after year they don't improve.

Not skipping subjects but do any of you Niners fans think the Niners should have drafted DeSean Jackson? The niners had the opportunity but I think they passed him up in the 2nd round to take an offensive lineman. What do y'all think? I think he would thrive in Martz' offense...

If I'm not mistaken, Roy Williams' contract is up after this season. We won't have to trade for him, we just have to bid for his services.

I was at the Niners' draft party and when our pick came up in the 2nd round everyone was chanting for Desean Jackson. I was talking with Joe Staley and Adam Snyder when our 2nd round pick was about to be announced and Staley predicted some guy (I don't remember who), but when they picked Chilo Rachal everyone, including Staley and Snyder, was like "who the fuck is that?"

Our first round pick isn't doing shit, but I understand why Balmer was taken. Many people had him in the top 15 and when he was still available they took him. I also understand why Chilo Rachal was taken because O-Line depth is always important, but when you have a talent like Desean Jackson falling in your lap you have to take it. Fuck Mike Nolan.

I agree^^^^ Jackson would have been y'all best playmaker at the receiver position since y'all drafted T.O. I thought the Niners was going to draft Jackson myself (Rice was saying how he worked out with him and he was going to be good). With that being said Bruce is looking nice. Rams screwed up by letting him go. That was a good free agent pick up... I guess credit goes to Martz for that.

But yeah Mike Nolan has been around a bit too long. Al Davis would have been fired him that mf.

^^^yeah I agree. I was listening to the draft on the radio and I couldn't believe how they passed up on him. He is a dual threat! He lacks size but the fucker is a gamer. And we need WR's! I thought we had a crap ass draft. I mean, we had an ok draft....C- imo. Nolans job is on the line and he was drafting for the future. What a joke. We need play makers now.

put desean jackson on the 49ers since the draft and he probably wouldnt crack the starting line up. he fell into a perfect situation where the eagles had like 3 wr's hurt and he played good while they were injured. not to mention mcnabb is a lot better passer then o'sullivan.

who knows if he stayed in the bay and ended up gettin in trouble, etc. its a bunch of coulda woulda shoulda shit. so move on.

if nolan is gone after the season i want bill cowher or lane kiffen or mike holmgreen.

Kiffin would be a good experiment if they gave him full control. Maybe he can bring in his father to the the defense. Thats an eye opener right there.

Cowher would be perfect, but I doubt he would come to the west coast.

I agree completely with the thread title and Cinci will probably ask a lot for TJ so i dont know what the Niners are willing to give up for him

Haha here's an excerpt from a blog ranking the top 10 worst coaches in the NFL, Nolan being the worst:

1. Mike Nolan (49ers): Terrible game planning? Check. Throwing your players under the bus? Check. Terrible clock management? Check. Declining a holding call to set up a 3rd and 1 instead of a 2nd and 11 for the other team? Check (yes that actually happened against TB last season). Mike Nolan is a salesman. He somehow convinced 49er owner John York to hire him as head coach and give him complete control over the team even though he had zero experience in either department. He drafted a QB from a gimmick, spread college offense and made him the center piece of a team that is was built (at least attempted to be built)to win with conservative offense and good defense. He then threw that quarterback under the bus when he tried to play with a should injury so bad that it has kept him out for the 2007 and 2008 seasons. This "defensive specialist" has spent millions on free agent defenders only to have a squad that is a mismosh of 3-4 and 4-3 players struggling to find an identity. The team has lacked a pass rush as Nolan refuses to stray from his vanilla schemes. Week after week, he tells the press that the schemes were right but the players didn't execute, refusing to take blame for the utter mess he has created by the bay. The 49ers were 16-32 in is first 3 seasons. He should have been fired last season but 49er fans have been made to suffer 1 more year.

Sounds about right.

True, but im sure he has to know that Nolan will more than likely be fired sometime this season or directly after, In the article it mentioned that he would be a perfect Martz guy, and Martz was the 1 who wanted to draft Rachal with the 2nd round pick, so maybe hes gonna get martz what he wants/needs?

I can't see Scot McCloughan truly having power until Nolan is gone for the fact that Nolan is the guy who brought him in to begin with. If McCloughan were a good GM he would have fired Nolan as soon as he got the position. These two got close, and that is straining the decision making. At least that's what I think.

I read an article about us trying to trade for TJ but they said we probably wouldn't because he is going to be a free agent this offseason. People don't think a whole lot though.. If TJ doesn't get traded, he will more than likely be franchise tagged by Cinci next season. If we do trade for him, we can work out a long-term deal before anyone else has a shot at it or we can tag him and try for a deal again next season. I think we should do it.

I Agree, Bruce and TJ on the field on the field at the same time would be huge, with BJ and Battle in the slot. I believe if we trade for him and dont get him resigned, we franchise him lol
