That video is nothing, some recruit getting yelled at. It's called "learning to maintain composure in high stress situations".
Of course it's people who have absolutely no idea what basic training or military life is like that are talking about brain washing or mind control.
It's called training. You're trained to perform a number of combat related tasks like firing a weapon, evaluating casualties, first aid, etc. They "drill" it into you until it becomes second nature and you can perform those tasks in stressful, chaotic situations.
During my stint in the Army there was no political indoctrination, or anything even close to that. The only thing political I ever saw was reminders to vote during voting season. You're trained to perform tasks, not brainwashed into following an ideology.
There is some truth to the statement of people joining up because they have limited options in civilian life. Plenty of people paid for their college with the military and have been able to see the world and move out of mom's house. It's not an easy life, but it can be rewarding.
