Hes not broke fool, they just froze his account cuz they want money off his ass. Are you that hard headed? Imagine what they would have done to him if he did take that 40? he would be doing life right now. He probably "borrowed money" to force the Filipino gov's to help out, but he was obviously gonna pay out of his own to help out as well. So what, now you are telling me that Broner is richer than Manny? He gets showtime money not HBO money so please stop

he turned down floyds whole package. not just the $40 mil. didnt floyd say he wanted 100% PPV buys as well?
Floyd Mayweather NEVER told Manny Pacquiao he would shut him out of the PPV money...he told him we will talk about out it...Manny side is the ones who were saying Floyd said no PPV. It just depends on who you believe.

I'm making this statement prematurely...so I might get egg on my face...anyways I came here to bash Bob Arum on his projected PPV numbers in China which I believe wont tally up collectively to much in comparison to Manny Pacquiao at the height of his PPV career...this fight with Brandon Rios had relatively little fan fare leading up to the event...at least that is what it seemed like in the United States...so I don't think a boat load of buys came from this side...and with the GAMBLE of offering the fight at $1 over in China with the hopes of winning by sheer numbers because of the population is a serious risk...what struck me about this venture not playing out the way that Top Rank had hoped was the announcement that Manny in 2014 would fight once in China and once in the US...WHY!?!...when you stated that this overseas venture was going to be the RICHEST in boxing history...oh well...Bob Arum and that used car salesman shit...I'm waiting to see the PPV numbers return.

Just to clarify, the Chinese PPV was $5 and only available through mobile devices such as phones and tablets. I don't think China has a PPV system in place through TV. So the numbers won't be big since its a small percentage of people anyway. The main reasons for a fight in China are twofold: very low taxes and Top Ranks continued effort of tapping into the Chinese market whom have only recently got into boxing. As shown by Shuming, he had about 400 million Chinese viewers for his pro debut so obviously the potential is massive.

Any talk about how big of an event by a promoter is just promoting, like when Richard Scaefer said Floyd Mosley would do over 3 million buys.

Thanks for the info I wonder if avoiding the tax difference in the United States will be made up by the Chinese connection with their audience...even at $5 it seems on the surface to be a big stretch...let say it did 300k in the US or even 400k...they would have had to sale a TRENDOUS AMOUNT of $5 buys (no telling how the $5) is split up after expenses...I doubt Brandon Rios coming off of a loss and campaigning at 147 lbs for the first time will do better than Pacquiao vs Bradley.

And also I think it's best to bring Shuming to the United States after his brilliant display of boxing the guys hand and foot coordination really looks inspired by Manny Pacquiao...I'm ah fan lol. He would make more noise here...just like Pacquioa makes more noise in the US regardless of his popularity in the Philippines...in short AMERICA is the official home of BOXING...unless it's in the UK.

Also factor in the casino paid boatloads of money for thst fight and the gate was $15 million something like that.

But anyways, that's not the big picture. This fight was never about record profits it was about Manny looking good against an OK fighter in his comeback and of course building boxing in Macau, and China. Remember, Macau is a massive gambling city, their profits dwarf that of Vegas. The money there is insane. This was the third or fourth event TR has put there and they already have several more dates set. It's really about expanding the sport to a huge untapped market.

Shuming sucks. But he's insanely popular in China because of his two Gold Medals. Shuming is basically just a key to open the door to the Chinese market. There is a Chinese MW Top Rank recently signed who looks way more impressive.

When explained in that fashion...future investment I can see Top Ranks shrewd move...and YES you do have to pre-sell the product and over hype it...so it seems the answer may or may not accure so soon into the venture...sounds like Boxing is the UFC building it's brand in the China as a fledgling upstart...only with a more glorified past...maybe a 5 year plan? But like you said it's not to break records it's to expand and be profitable.

Right and it's good for the sport long term. Even though Arum is surely only thinking about money for his company and fighters, in the long run it could benefit everyone. Crossover Chinese stars are bound to happen one day.
With being said...even cross over American fighters...Brandon Rois had to have benefited in some way...I just wish he would have given a better showing of himself...he might have wasted his effort...and will not get any residual movement at all sense that fight was so one sided...if he would have lost like how Juan Manuel Marquez did in fights 2 and 3...he would have been a star.

Another lie I see. The PPV was actually free in China because no one wanted to pay for it. Bob Arum just said the fight did 500k -550k PPV. So we know the real numbers is 350k - 450k. So the Ghost vs. Mayweather fight did more then Bradley vs. Marquez and Manny vs. Rios put together Lol. Again Bigface was right no way in hell Manny made $30 million for this fight. Just do the math and u will see that Top Rank lost a lot of money or Manny was never going to make $30million. Lol. My oh my how the mighty has fallen. That $40 million offer dont seem so bad now. Now you better beg Mayweather for a fight.

Yeah Manny wasn't seeing $30 million...his average is $18 million...and he is at his lowest point now in his career...I dislike Bob Arum for the way he made a carnival circus of the whole affair...could have had Pacquiao in a way better position if he had only fought Floyd Mayweather in 2 matches by this time if he was competitive in the first fight...still had 3 matches with Juan Manuel Marquez and probably avoided the 4th stanza...rematched Timothy Bradley for the 2nd time...I think Pacs' brand would have looked much better than what's happening now.

Pacquiao is a scary idiot who doesn't call his own shots. At the end of the day, he's the fighter and should pick who he wants to fight. If he wanted the Mayweather fight bad enough, he would have accepted the Mayweather fight (and drug testing that he NOW accepts) back in 2010 before deciding to fight Clottey. Pacquiao/Arum was the first to choose another opponent to fight.

The fight was at 50/50, they discussed who would enter the ring first, the overweight penalty, etc... all Floyd wanted was to make sure that Pacquiao wasn't juicing. Floyd comprised, Pacquiao didn't!

It's NOW OFFICIAL...Manny Pacquiao and Bob Arum KNEW that Floyd Mayweather was scheduled in May 2014...what did Arum do immediately after the fight...announce that Pacquiao would be fighting in April of 2014...MANNY DON'T WANT IT...NEVER DID, NEVER WILL...reference to post above me for a replay on the TALE OF THE TAPE^^^^^^^ and remember during the press tour for Pacquiao vs Rios Manny was adamant that he wanted Floyd...like he was ready NOW...ANYTIME!!! After the fight where Manny looks sensational...even let Rios off the hook and let Brandon Rios finish on his feet...he couldn't bring himself to say "My NEXT fight I want Floyd!!!"...instead we got..."I will leave it to my PROMOTER"...

Pac has pretty much always said "I will leave it to my PROMOTER." However, what is interesting is calling out Floyd when you already have an April (12th) date lined up for your own fight.

I see Arum doing more and more slick shit, and now I think Manny probably didn't want it with Floyd. There is just too much strange shit going on and on. I mean this is some incredible shit coming from their camp. Yeah the first deal was on some bullshit, especially at the time, and yeah Floyd said some shit he shouldn't have said (the race shit, peds shit, twice saying Pac was next), but this is some truly strange shit coming from Top Rank. And I'm sorry, I know he is sick, but I wonder how much Freddy Roach knows about all of this and why he decides to let this type of rape continue. Is he getting a cut of that Manny pie?

Strange shit.

I don't know of a fight where they have ever lied about the PPV #'s in boxing. I could be wrong, but it's information that could be released in other ways. Not sure how, but UFC keeps their numbers locked down. Mainly because they are a private company as far as I know and do not have to release the info. Not sure what the difference is with boxing promotional companies, but they can't hide their numbers like that

You know what bro...HONESTLY...don't nobody wanna hear that shit anymore (not attacking you just the statement) about Manny always says "my promoter" ...Arum could have told Pac ..."After you kick Rios' ass they are going to ask you who's NEXT...you say Floyd Mayweather IS NEXT!!!" Arum is a promoter if he was genuine in making the Floyd fight he would have instructed Manny to BUILD THE HYPE!!! Besides always looking hella timid with the shit after the promotion are done.

Floyd says the same shit this is from yesterday:

Asked about what his future holds, Mayweather wouldn’t throw out any possible names.

“I never know who I’m going to fight,” Mayweather explained. “I leave that up to my team. My team comes up with the guy and I go with the game plan.

“Whoever it’s going to be, I truly believe we’re going to do good numbers,” Mayweather added. “Because once it gets to this level it’s a business.”

Asked for his thoughts on Khan’s abilities as a prizefighter, Mayweather offered some respect.

“Amir Khan, I think he’s a young, strong champion,” Floyd stated. “I call all these guys champions. I call them champions because even when they get knocked down they get back up and give it their best.”

Khan appeared to be on fast track towards a Mayweather fight a few years ago but a crushing fourth round TKO loss to Danny Garcia in July of 2012 set him back and he hasn’t been able to fully restore his luster even after switching trainers and teaming up with Virgil Hunter.

Asked if Khan has maybe taken too much flack from critics for his losses, Mayweather revealed that he hasn’t exactly been keeping tabs on the Bolton fighter’s career.

“I really don’t know too much about Amir Khan,” Mayweather stated. “But I do know, every time out, the guy comes and fights. If he is the guy, then he’s the guy. There’s nothing I can do but go out there and execute the game plan and dedicate myself to my craft, which is boxing.”
