the production on some songs really was bad.........i think Federal fucked him up wit some of those beat......I like Wyno, dont get me wrong, the cat got flows...but he need a solid producer with constant heat.....to me his features outshine his solo albums.....both SIMW and BWAV had some tight songs.....but most i had to skip.....Back with a vengeance had WAAAAY to many sample and BS that wasnt neccessary in my opinion......But i always look forawrd to new spits from this cat.....he just needs better production...He came tightest on UP IN SMOKE....PENN Chances and a few other he featured on

Agreed. I haven't heard STEP INTO MY WORLD (he's a FOOL for that picture! LMFAO!), but BACK WITH A VENGEANCE not only had too many samples, but they were OBVIOUS samples that have already been overused. I love his rhyme patterns, but the obvious samples got distracting. I suspect that the fact that BWAV was on DOGDAY might have dictated part of that. I read an interview with U.D.I. on some webpage I ran into at random, and QUINT and D.I.G. basically said that the Dogday CEOs were always trying to push their artists into poppier territory against their will.

WYNO also spits fire on two LOWDOWN CDs I have: VALLEY OF DEATH and THE DIRTY DOZEN, and he appears on both of NEVER's (LOWDOWN's producer) MINORITY MILITIA projects. PEACE!

Shit, Back With A Vengeance is much worse. I dont like that Never's production. That kinda 80's music (piano) or hitting a glass with a spoon, like in Marked 4 Death. I think Never doesnt understand that Lil Wyno needs a hard beats and rough music, not that calm shit. But anyway I like it, though its worse than Step Into My World.

So Dogday's doin' heavy metal, huh? Doesn't surprise me. I read an interview with CROOKED (from DARKROOM FAMILIA), and he said that the ceos of Dogday (well, actually, CROOKED called them "DogGay!" LMFAO!) didn't know shit about marketing Rap. I guess they had worked mainly in Punk Rock from what Crooked indicated. He also pointed out that every single act who signed with J & C back in the day, from CLOSED CAPTION and U.D.I. to BALDHEAD RICK(sp?), THE COUP and MS. CHAMBERS eventually left. Coincidence? Nope. But yeah, I'll probably check out any new Lowdown/Lil Wyno/Lowtown shit that comes out in the future. They're underrated, IMHO. PEACE!

shit say what you want about Jo & Chris / Dogday...

They may not have made the right decisions moneywise with artist royalties and what not, but they were a true marketing machine. They were one of the main reasons behind the success of Herm's debut compilation as they helped push massive units through K-9 Marketing (i believe thatz what they called it)
They also worked RBL Ruthless By Law and then the huge debut success of 11/5 and UDI also was attributed to them.

I think RBL's RUTHLESS BY LAW was on In-A-Minute Records--at least my copy doesn't have Dogday's logo on it...PEACE!
