with all this being said, i got a feeling that most of you people that are complaining about the past (something that should be left behind anyways) were NOT listening to the radio back then.

KMEL played The Whoridas and Mac Mall also in like 98-00. I remember that shit. But it was mostly in mixes on friday or saturday night. It is true tho that alot of the Bay Area underground can't be played on the radio unless you got a sav ass DJ. The big wigs don't want you to listen to struggle and injustice on fridays and saturdays. They want you to go to the clubs they own, dance yo' ass off to crazy up tempo beats, get perved buyin their liqour, make them rich, and have your dumbass docile and ignorantified for the next five work days until your so pissed at your shittyass job that your about to explode and then guess what it's "friday bitches!" Time to go to the club an blow off some steam so you don't punch your boss for ass rapin you on your paycheck and hours. And come monday you can take another ass rapin for five more days. And then you die. hmmmm......

Music- sedative for the newslaves.

well really, a few years back 92.7 "the party" went out of business and somebody picked up 92.7 and made it into a hiphop/rap radio station with no commercials or anything (so clearchannel wasn't censoring the music being played on the station). they played a bunch of bay hip hop, the team was getting played, frontline, that's where 16's with me, ya boy, first got radio run... then when people started listening to 92.7 instead of 94.9 and 106, kmel and 94.9 started getting the ok to play bay rap... it all happened pretty quick and then people were requesting bay shit on the kmel and it just took off.... also big von played a big role in getting a lot of songs on the radio

That's how I remember it....

yeah and there are hella knuckle heads on here who say they don't listen to the radio but also complain they don't play enough Bay shit. LOL.

@ Scotty Fox - If you were a fan of Mac Dre you should have taken the risk and played his shit one time for the listeners. You guys always seem to announce premieres by artist and title. You could have done the same with MD. Just food for thought.

some of u throw around the term payola like everyone is doing it lol. u think every rapper gettin put on is paying for radio play?? please....
Everyone isn't doing it but it's pretty common knowledge that Quinns' camp has paid to get a song on the radio before. I don't remember the song but I do remember it being discussed and even put in a battle on the air by some rapper.
