So just asking a question.

If this was your kid, and they called you letting you know they wanted to send your son home for above reasons. And you said no, keep him there, thats bullshit.

Then he gets his head caved in.

Would you:

A. Blame yourself because you could have saved him from harm

B. Blamed him for being a dick.

C. Blame the school officials, because they should have protected him with missiles.

D. Blame the people who whooped his ass.

Just a question, please don't delete my props.
B. Blamed him for being a dick.

However, I would raise my children to be tolerant and understanding, so that wouldn't happen in my household.

The parents should have stepped in and tried to explain to their children BEFORE they left the house why their actions were insensitive.

confederate flag?

ya, you might catch a beatdown on any given day.

but one of these kids was jsut wearing an old navy shirt that had a flag on it, nothing even large, it was small.

have your holidays, thats cool.

....but you cant tell someone what to wear, & when to wear it.

do you think if someone was wearing a mexican flag shirt on ANY holiday they'd be told something? Nah.

& if you do, you are only kidding yourselves.

my mexican cousins even thought this shit was stupid.
I agree with this.

We agree on alot Dubb, but on this I have to call it like it is... this is America, and unless it's connected to America, citizens don't have a right to force non-American culture practices on other American citizens, or have them change up in fear of violence. What the kids (with American flag shirts) did was divisive, low-key ethnocentric, but it was not wrong because this is America. I would never dare celebrate my city or nation's culture in a foreign place and then try to force other citizens from that place to not celebrate theirs.

Now if I'm missing something tell me... I think I am reasonable and making a good point but probably I am missing on something.
well said

I can dig what you saying, but instead of looking at it like folks moved here for a better life. You should ask WHY was there no better life in the land they came from? I.E NAFTA pushing corn farmers off the land, the civil wars in Central America in the 1980s, U.S. support of right-wing governments and their death squads.
very good point

The school should have made them sit in the office and had their parent/guardian either:
1. Sign a waiver that if they get fucked off it's not the school's fault and escort them to each class
2. Take their dumb asses home

for the record I belive Cinco de Mayo and Juneteenth (I'm black) are dumb ass holidays. That's not the point though. With this climate those kids were going to crack off a riot. That's a liability. They are minors. If a parent believes that is the right thing to do then walk your dumb ass class to class with them. It's not my job to protect your ignorant hateful ass child.

^ Perhaps he was peer pressured into doing it, or just caught in the middle of some bull shit. Either way it was obvious he wasn't into it like the other kids were. It's not fair to that kid just like it isn't fair to all Mexicans when there are a few idiots going around flaunting flags at people like Illmannered was saying.

The actions that the authorities (principal in this case) need to take is to teach these KIDS something about being respectful towards each other WITHOUT being on any side. From the looks of the article, it doesn't look like that's the way things were handled...

I blame people for politicizing their children.

Why should some kid get his shit smashed on for being a little shit kid? The sense of infallible nostalgia Latinos have for their homelands is divisive. Its for the same reasons that Mexicans hate EL Salvadoreans (vice versa), America hates the rest of the world, and so on and so forth.

Americans really dont give a fuck for July 4th. People care more about the fireworks and hot dogs than the reason behind it. Only in bumfuck idiots does nationalism become important/violent.

Nationalism and chauvinism lead to people acting like small town bumblefucks.

I dont care for Cinco de Mayo the same way I dont care for July 4th.

Mexicans don't like El Salvadoreans and vice versa because of the vestiges of colonialism.
