Those kids obviously did this to antagonize and cause some controversy, as is evidenced by their refusal to turn their shirts in and lessen the tensions. They could of done this on any other day but instead chose Cinco De Mayo. And it's not like they dress like that everyday. The truth is they were trying to pick a fight with a racially motivated statement. With that said what the teachers could have done, is used this as a teaching opportunity about diversity, ethnic pride, free speech, respect for others, etc.

So you're saying all the undocumented workers picking all the vegetables in the California valleys had nothing to do with making California so rich? Even though it's agriculture is the best in the country, one of the best in the world?

And yeah, now we have rules because it's not Europeans who leave most of their culture in Europe coming in. But it's Mexicans who bring it with them...
SHOUT OUT TO TRACK KILLA AND GIIIIILAAAAAS. AND THA SALAD BOWL.

lol, .0001%. But you know this is not new during the 40's -and I think to the 60's-they had the bracero program where they only let Mexican men who were laborers in the country (they encouraged their immigration). After the country got what they needed out of these Mexican laborers they stopped immigration, plus they never let the families of these men in the country, like the Chinese and the railroads.

"is this what our country is coming to? Kids sent home from school for wearing red white and blue?"

Yup, my grandpa was a Bracero and he eventually died due to lung disease, caused more than likely by the pesticides they used to dump.

A lot of people are all for a guest worker program, but is it really humane to treat people as if they're only a pair of arms to work? I don't think so, and that's what guest worker programs do to people...

If they need one's labor, then one should be able to take his family, culture, traditions and everything else with him and not just his pair of arms to work.

I think it's fuckin retarded. When I was in high school it was fine for anyone hispanic to shove a Mexican flag in our face on Cinco...so why can't kids wear an American flag? We are IN FUCKIN AMERICA are we not? I could care less which race it is...however, if you're here, be proud to be a fuckin American. I would NEVER move to Mexico and start waving an American flag around...seems fuckin stupid. Have pride in your heritage, sure...but if you move somewhere FOR A BETTER LIFE, have pride in where you have moved.

Furthermore, on those who pushed for NAFTA, CAFTA and all the "free trade" bull shit they've implemented in Latin America the last sixty years.
the very reason I said this:

"All in all, it's all bullshit. America reaps what it sows, and we all have to suffer, while the rich have a buffer."

Where's Dana at, I wanna see what she thinks.

I worked in the fields, ever since I was a kid til I could get a work permit thru school, under age & against the law ( illegal ) & mexicans were NOT the only ones out there doing it.

I'd say it was maybe 65% mexican & 35% Vietnamese.

then there was me, my mom & brother. .0001%
I KNOW WHAT UR SPEAKIN... BUT PLEASE NOTICE I DIDNT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT MEXICANS

NO REALLY CALI DO GOT THE BEST VEGATABLES ON EARTH. AND PROPS TO THA FOLKZ SUPPLYIN IT.

Shove Mexican flags in your face? Really?

I know you wouldn't go around to another country and wave the American flag, but America is made from a large and diverse population coming from all over the world. People here are not all one race, and still value where they came from. Not everyone can just say they're American and that's that, America is made from ALL cultures and not just one uniform culture.

Furthermore, if you're talking about a HS in Cali, well shit just look at the history books and realize where this used to be and that the original California constitution was written in both English AND Spanish, because there have ALWAYS been Mexicans in this land. Before all this "illegal" and xenophobic talks started happening, before this was even considered the United States...

Try and accept that.
