I think it's fuckin retarded. When I was in high school it was fine for anyone hispanic to shove a Mexican flag in our face on Cinco...so why can't kids wear an American flag? We are IN FUCKIN AMERICA are we not? I could care less which race it is...however, if you're here, be proud to be a fuckin American. I would NEVER move to Mexico and start waving an American flag around...seems fuckin stupid. Have pride in your heritage, sure...but if you move somewhere FOR A BETTER LIFE, have pride in where you have moved.
Horse shit.

This kinda reminds me of those walkouts we had a few years back because of some immigration bill. I remember all the Mexican kids leaving their high schools and waving Mexican flags at protests. Like how is waving a foreign flag in this country gonna help your cause?

I can dig what you saying, but instead of looking at it like folks moved here for a better life. You should ask WHY was there no better life in the land they came from? I.E NAFTA pushing corn farmers off the land, the civil wars in Central America in the 1980s, U.S. support of right-wing governments and their death squads.

This is some bullshit. Ok so its obvious these kids thought it would be funny and stir some shit up wearing the american flag but getting kicked out and shit? Thats wrong. If the school dont got a dress code or nothing then they didnt do shit against the rules

What is so wrong about that??? a group of maybe 4 butt hurt ass faggots felt like their baby nuts got chopped off because of one dumb ass Americanized booze filled holiday and felt like telling some BEANERS to fuck off. its plain and simple, the school told them to turn their shirts inside out and then didnt. so go the fuck on home with ur wittle baby nuts tucked away. at least then u can wear ur honky ass flag t shirt at home

on top of it, this is HIGH SCHOOL we're talking about. they dont have rights. i got my car searched, torn apart by dogs because it was parked on school grounds. i didnt have any say or protection because it was on school property. its the same thing. u go to school, u obey their rules. if they tell u turn ur shirt inside out, do it or go home. simple as that.

Shove Mexican flags in your face? Really?

I know you wouldn't go around to another country and wave the American flag, but America is made from a large and diverse population coming from all over the world. People here are not all one race, and still value where they came from. Not everyone can just say they're American and that's that, America is made from ALL cultures and not just one uniform culture.

Furthermore, if you're talking about a HS in Cali, well shit just look at the history books and realize where this used to be and that the original California constitution was written in both English AND Spanish, because there have ALWAYS been Mexicans in this land. Before all this "illegal" and xenophobic talks started happening, before this was even considered the United States...

Try and accept that.
Yes, really. And by doing so it started damn near a race riot, with the day ending in a giant fight between the blacks and hispanics. It is one thing to see folks walk with flags, good for them. It's another thing to taunt, and that's what each year promised for a while until it boiled over and a lot of people got hurt.

And I dont have to accept shit. I'm considerate. If you are not ( no matter your background )and are in my face, welcome to punchville.

To Dayton Dana:
the whole school situation.
I think what the kids did was highly disrespectful. I think, as stated by others in this thread, it was done to taunt Mexican kids, and if they would have caught an ass whoopin over it, it would have been well-deserved.

Having said that, I think its bullshit that the school sent them home.

Well, the fact that it started the "race riots" can't be blamed on the act itself, because you know damn well the tension was there before. I don't agree in taunting flags, I don't wave any kind of flags ever.

I'm just saying, the tension is there and people USE the day to stir shit up on BOTH sides. You disagree?

According to wikipedia it's a concept that promotes physical violence against political enemies as a way of inspiring the masses and catalyzing revolution. I learned.
LMAO, I was thinking more along the lines of sending a message through action and not words. But I guess the concept is the same...

Not really in our school's situation. It was something that started one year and ended that year, annoying yes, but things were fine the next day. Then the next Cinco, the Hispanics took up a notch and it was fuckin annoying with a slew of taunts to the point of downright rude ( and would have been considered racist if other races would have done it ). Histerically, most of them ended up face down in the grass after a lot of tough talk.

If it's cool for one race, it should be cool for all. Bottom line for me...be respectful to the next man or end up physically beaten. The end haha.

Shit happened at my school too, I went to Seaside in the Monterey Bay and this doode put a Mexican flag on a black guy who threw it on the ground and shit popped off big time.

With that in mind, I can understand why the administration wanted them kids to turn they shirts inside out and remove the bandana. If them kids want to walk around they city with American flags, that's all them, but you don't get them same freedoms at school. They got to maintain order.

So just asking a question.

If this was your kid, and they called you letting you know they wanted to send your son home for above reasons. And you said no, keep him there, thats bullshit.

Then he gets his head caved in.

Would you:

A. Blame yourself because you could have saved him from harm

B. Blamed him for being a dick.

C. Blame the school officials, because they should have protected him with missiles.

D. Blame the people who whooped his ass.

Just a question, please don't delete my props.

Ey bro, I'm not sure of your race but I'm guessing Black? Whether people want to admit it or not, there is HUGE tension between blacks and Mexicans in Cali. Situations like you're explaining have very little to do with the actual day and being proud of one's heritage, and usually end up manifesting into explosions of this huge tension that already exists. Like I said, people use this day to stir shit up that's already in existence.

And I agree completely with your final statement.
