Keisha Cole will be on BET's The Center at 3pm. I already saw it and was very dissapointed by her lack of plugging other Bay artist. When she was asked if there was any other music comin out Oakland she responded with yeah my album. She didnt speak on The Team, keak or anybody. Now I know she tryin to promote her album but thats hella fuckin weak that she didn't even speak on some of the real heat comin out the Bay right now. But yall check it out when it comes on in the west.

She been livin in LA for a minute, maybe she's not keeping up with the bay area shit. I can understand that. She gotta get HER career started FIRST before she go around pluggin everybody elses shit.

What does she look like pluggin other artists when her shit aint even all the way off the ground yet?

What she'd look like is a tru Bay representa. The question was is there any OTHER new music comin out of Oakland, that means other than her. All im saying is that was the perfect time to spread some shine to some up and comin Bay artist. Them south cats or ny cats would have named hella people if asked the same qeustion.

Im not sayin that its her RESPONSIBILITY to do anything. But the fan was obviously interested in who else was makin noise in Oakland and that was a perfect time for Keisha to let her know about some Bay artist. Nobody said the Bay is OWED anything and that she gotta put the whole Bay on her back, but if you have a chance to shed some light on the Bay then why not do it. Yall cats obviously dont know the power of a shot out from a popular artist on national tv. Say she did speak on a Bay artist and then a viewer saw it and started checkin for em, then boom now you got more people outside of the Bay feelin our shit. Its called word of mouth. You niggas better get some game about yaselves and understand how this shit works. How the fuck you think every cat that gets put on by a popular artist actually get put on? Its by him/her spreading the word about them. G Unit for example, knowbody knew who the fuck banks and buck was until 50 blew and started speaking on him and now they've blown themselves. Its just how the shit works, once you blow its now time for you to bring some shine to some other cats when the oppurtunity presents itself. Especially when its the Bay we need all the shine we can get. Yall niggas better pay attention.

I'm not saying that I'm no longer a fan of Kiesha Cole. Im just saying that she could have easily plugged the Bay. The whole show was about her so she was getting her shine anyway. Why not give the rest of the Bay some too is all im saying.

To add to what I said earlier what if she said the Federation and someone saw it and was like damn I just saw them on MTV they must be hard. Now you got they name ringin in people ears in other states, its a domino affect.

Hopefully she will get plenty of opportunites to shout out other artist. But she does have young baliey from fully loaded on her video, so I aint got shit bad to say about her. We cant fault somebody for not doing enough. When we look back on things we all might saw we could have done more, but I proud just cause she is still reppin, and not saying she is from somewhere esle...

Everyone seems to "understand how this shit works" but you.

There isn't a Bay Area Artists Coalition setup where every bay artist looks out for the next one. It's not like all bay artists are linked together through the feeling of being oppressed by the mainstream. You have to look out for number one. Especially when you first get on. What you're expeting Keisha Cole to do can be equated to bringing somebody else's resume to YOUR job interview. What kinda sense would that make?

You have to realize that if Banks and Buck blow up, that means 50 gets paid so of course he's going to do whatever he can to promote them. It's not like he's doing it out of the kindness of his heart.

You obviously don't know the business man. It's just not how it works.

^^^Your mentality is exactly why the Bay aint where it needs to be. I dont give a shit if nobody is affiliated in the Bay. That dont mean you cant shot someone out. No matter what you say everybody wants where they from to be big and the only way thats gonna happen is if Bay artist keep makin good music, give props, and support each other. If you dont see that trend in the game right now, you aint payin attention at all.

And cuzzo I have two Degrees in Entertainment Marketing and Management and have worked with a prominent figure in the music biz so I think I understand the business very well.

Of course keisha Cole has to look out for self first. She was on the show for just that reason to promote herself, but when asked specifically about other music comin out of Oakland theres no excuse for not saying at least one group/person. Especially when the person who asked the question was from NY. Damn yall act like I said she should have ran a got hella Bay cats cd covers and put them all on the screen and read all they bio's and shit. I just simply said she could have answered the question with a Bay artist or two.

Anyway im done arguing about this its my opinion and it aint changing.

dude is making some good points..but..my take on this is the bay is still at a point where the cat threefoe or anyone else has to even catch that type of shit..you know...we still down here hopin that one artist..in this case an R&B artist at that has to help out...So to an extent Threefoe I feel you but it's just a shame how the industry shuts the Bay out so tuff and for so long that we are just hoping by chance someone gets put on and starts giving out bay artists name in hopes of getting that other bay artist some shine eslewhere.....by the way the vibe awards sucked and this is now the end of times yall.....things are so fucked up musically and the mentallity of these new acts are horrible......and the industry won't let the bay in?...what the fuck is this..

This is a good discussion for the board, not an argument

When Usher was really starting to blow a couple of albums back, you didn't hear him shouting out Lil Jon or Ludacris or nothin. But Lil Jon and Luda get hot, guess what? Usher, Lil Jon and Ludacris get together and make a hit. But you didn't hear Usher shouting out his Atlanta comrads until they were in the industry themselves. It wasn't Usher's responsibility to do so.

The Bay aint where it needs to be because we don't have any hit records coming out of here. Plain and simple. It has nothing to do with my "mentality" (whatever that may be). I understand where you're coming from but you're naive to think that everybody wants where they are from to be big. It's like you're basing your whole "mentality" on what Atlanta artists are doing right now. Everywhere aint like Atlanta. Some cats want to be the only thing from their area to be big and could give a fuck about everybody else. I kinda see this "trend" you're talking about, but again it don't work like that everywhere. Following trends as opposed to setting them is not the way to go. Just because Atlanta and a lot of the South is unified don't mean that kind of thing would work in the Bay. I can't help out another artist if I aint even in a position to help myself. I could go on for days about this. Some people get my point.

That's good for you dawg. I've been producing music for almost 10 years and I've worked with a few prominent figures in the biz. Does that mean either of our points of view are more valid than the other? Nope. It just means that we both believe in our point of view. I'm just trying to get the point across that this aint an argument. It's a good discussion.

Basically she was in a position where she COULD have said something. Not where she SHOULD have said something. Saying she SHOULD have said something implies that it was her duty/responsibility to do so. Which it isn't.

MrPeete I feel some of your points and I kinda see where we agree on some things but where just wording it different. The point is im really passionate about this Bay shit and I try to do whateva I can to market and promote the Bay wherever I'm at, so I kinda find myself expectin the same from others and obviously thats just not reality. Truth is she didnt have to say anything but I still think that she should have.

^^^^ Yea. People just have to realize it will happen when it happens. There's no formula to it. It is what it is and will be what it will be.
