ALL SAID IN DONE, THE QUESTION ASKED, WHAT OTHER MUSIC IS COMING FROM OAKLAND? ANSWER " ME " - TO ME IT SOUNDS LIKE SHE'S FEELING HERSELF, GOOD FOR HER. BUT TO ME SHE FELL SHORT ON MY PROPS METER. IF SHE MAKES IT BIG, WE'LL SEE WHAT SHE DOES WITH IT. I WISH HER THE BEST OF LUCK, SHE'LL NEED IT.

Why is her shine going to last for only so long? She could be the next Mary J Blige for all we know...

People have to realize that while it's cool to rep where you're from, nobody is under any obligation to do so. There's no rule that says if you're an R&B or Hip Hop artist you MUST rep for your city and all of the artists in that city.

Half of you mufuckas on here can't tell me where Ashanti is from. Half of you mufuckas can't tell me where Ric Roc is from. Where's Alicia Keys from? etc ....

Half of you mufuckas on here don't know where Spice 1 really is from. Which actually brings up another question: What's worse (a) A hip hop artist representing a place that has more street cred than where he really grew up or (b) Not representing at all?

If an artist doesn't go out of their way to rep where they're from it's ok. Just because everybody else does it, fans tend to expect it. I give Keisha Cole props for making her MUSIC the focus as opposed to geography.

Remember people, this is the MUSIC business. Not the 'Throw your hood up' business.

I dont know why everybody took my comment and turned it into some other shit. I simply said I was dissapointed that when she was asked about what OTHER MUSIC was comin out of Oakland that she didnt speak on any. Thats it, nobody said she was obligated or bound by contract to say anything about the Bay. People seem to be missing the point. She wasnt at a concert or a show performing she was simply asked about OTHER MUSIC and she said nothing. Its not about that repping the Bay or any of that shit, its about not answering the question asked of her.

Everyone seems to "understand how this shit works" but you.

There isn't a Bay Area Artists Coalition setup where every bay artist looks out for the next one. It's not like all bay artists are linked together through the feeling of being oppressed by the mainstream. You have to look out for number one. Especially when you first get on. What you're expeting Keisha Cole to do can be equated to bringing somebody else's resume to YOUR job interview. What kinda sense would that make?

You have to realize that if Banks and Buck blow up, that means 50 gets paid so of course he's going to do whatever he can to promote them. It's not like he's doing it out of the kindness of his heart.

You obviously don't know the business man. It's just not how it works.
werd!! good breakdown!!

^^^ You switchin up a lil bit threefoe but we'll just leave it as it is
Cuzzo Im not switchin up I just finnaly read through all them post and found that people was going into leftfield with what i said. My whole stand point was that when she was asked about what other music was comin out of Oakland that she didnt answer thequestion or shed any light on what was going on in the O. But then cats started saying shit like she's not oblibgated to rep and she dont have to put the whole Bay on her back and all that shit that wasnt even said. My whole point was that she was asked a specific question about what other music was comin out of Oakland and she didnt answer it. I wasn't swithcin up at all I've stood by my opinion that I think when she was asked about what other music was comin out of the O that she should have answered the question asked and shed some light on other artist makin music. Thats it and thats all no switchin up ever. Yall chesck my first post, it clearly states that I was dissapointed that when she was asked a specific qeustion about what OTHER Oakland music was comin out that she didnt speak on it. Nothing more nothing less. Now in her answering the qeustion accurately she would have been plugging the Bay without going out of her way and that was all I was trying to say.
