What exactly does white sound like? There are asians who don't sound asian, black people who don't sound black, mexicans that don't sound mexican...shit, you have mexicans who don't LOOK mexican. So, I don't get the point. People sound like what they were raised around. You ever been to England? Black folks and middle eastern folks that live in England, sound English...just like the other people that live there. It's human nature to adapt to ones surroundings...be it language, taste in food, style of clothing, etc.
Are we supposed to sound like Stone Phillips because we're white?? I haven't "sounded white" since my voice changed when I hit puberty...but it's not because I "try to sound black", it's just that my voice is deep...and I have a slight accent that I picked up as a child because I spent all my time around some G's...and I picked shit up from them and my best friend from Texas (who happened to be black). He introduced me to soul food also...so am I trying to "be black" because I took a liking to southern food??
