I browsed through this thread and at first I was looking for a reason to hate on Dutch. Not because of what he said, but because of what I didnt read and simply just glanced through. After going through it a couple of times, dude comes off as intelligent, forthcoming, and real. What separates CWB from BGF, BMF, Brown Pride, etc, etc, etc??? Not a damn thing. You target a fanbase and make music that appeals to those who cop your shit as well as those who can relate. It's a real simple technique. What does Dutch look like calling out people who have been a part of predominately "minority" related show? Shit looks worse then anything to do with "The White Rapper Show." Me personally, I agree with somone standing up and saying something about that show. Im not with the whole "set us back x amount of years" shit, but for the sake and integrity of the music, the shit was a joke and should offend black, white and brown folk alike.
Since it was focused on making a mockery of white people, then I almost feel as though it is the duty of a "fellow" white artist to call it out. I aint an artist but if I was, then what I look like sittin back while Im trying to come up in this rap shit, hard as it already is for whiteboys and having any amount of respect for this shit. Serch and Vh-1 portrayed him as some sort of credible white legend in hiphop when in actuality, he came off as a broke ass has been who much like many other former, semi-famous celeb's is willing to sacrafice his integrity, roots, and credibility all for a quick buck.
I dont even post on here like that or really know Dutch as an artist, but I think the man has a point and an argument that deserves to be heard. He spoke on some real shit and if anyone is in the position of being able to voice his/her opinions on a show that was for all other purposes, an ongoing series dedicated to the humiliation of an " upcoming white rapper" then I would think that it was their right and duty to say something.
Those who missed it, re-read this quote from Dutch on the first page.
"Television is killing your brain. Don’t be force fed what the media
wants to feed you. You be the judge, do some research and find real White
rappers that really exist in real circles. Matter of fact, find music you like. white rapper is a term that needs to be killed. hip hop is a culture. a lifestyle. granted there are weak white rappers, but there are weak black, Latino and Asian rappers as well. find good music and if that artist happens to white then so be it. if you are looking for authenticity, then search for it. if you looking for entertainment, then search for it. But base your choice of music on quality. Not skin color."
