He got the injury at the end of the 2nd, at half time the doctors told him he shouldn't return, Cutler insisted he give it a go which he did, couldn't plant his leg and he threw an incomplete pass they went three and out and lovie pulled him.
I'm not doubting that this is all true, but don't you think this could be how they are trying to save Cutlers ass. Of course no Bears players are going to talk negatively about their starting franchise quarterback. Except for Urlacher, who apparently did it 2 years ago talking about Cutler.

Ill take cutlers imcomplete passes are still more of a thread then a todd collins imcomplete pass or a hanie int. when you got QB's of that caliber you take them at 50%. after all your offense is built around them. and im sure since the post season started collins and hanie never saw a single snap during practice.

nope, its conveniently an injury grade of 2 that doesnt need surgery just rest! Even though there was No sweeling which is grade 1, and they say its grade 2 which most times means surgery. so its a grade 1.5 i guess.
Man Scary...you sound fuckin' bitter haha...you must really hate that fool.

Most MCL injuries do not need surgery...only time you need surgery is if it's completely torn.

And most people wouldn't even be playing with a sprained MCL...regardless of what other players or so called experts are saying.

I understand fans are upset and suddenly medical experts...but this is just a game.

There are more important things in life than playing football...and maybe Cutler was thinking about not messing up his knee worse than it was.

The reason this looks bad for Cutler is because he was playing like doo-doo before he got hurt. The Bears didn't put any points on the board while he was in and he was overthrowing receivers.

I understand that he was hurt, but with the way he was performing makes it look suspect.

Damn, turns out that Collins (who didn't even complete a pass) had a better qb rating than Cutler.... WTF? Either Cutler is garbage or they need to fix how they rate Qb's. That's terrible!

LOL, what the?

Veteran quarterback Todd Collins didn't play well in spot duty for injured starter Jay Cutler during Sunday's NFC Championship Game. But his 0-for-4 passing performance wasn't the reason Collins came out of the game for the Chicago Bears.

A source said Monday that Collins suffered a shoulder injury on his final snap of the afternoon, taking a hit from Packers nose tackle B.J. Raji on a third-and-2 pass with 3:10left in the third quarter. Third-stringer Caleb Hanie relieved Collins and nearly rallied the Bears, who lost 21-14 and faced numerous questions about Cutler's knee injury.

End^^^^^

Wow, looks like the Bears are using the injury excuse for their quarterbacks performing like garbage. How did Collins injure his shoulder so fast after only throwing 4 passes (and 2 were almost picked off) hmmmmm......

Yeah and I've seen how big other defensive linemen are....

Cutler threw an INT right after the Bears picked Rodgers off.

Collins damn near threw 2 picks when he came in for Cutler. He was playing like straight garbage. My dad and brother both hit me with text messages talking about how sorry Collins looked.... next thing you know the 3rd stringer is in.

Both qb's mysteriously go out with injuries... and neither qb will need surgery. Hmmmmmm....

When has Cutler ever been taken out...or taken himself out of a game for playing like crap?

He always stays in a game and keeps throwing it...even if he's throwing picks.

But yeah...NOW he quits and pretends he's hurt...in a championship game.

Not at crappy Vandy...or getting beat up all year...not when he got sacked 6 times against SEA.

It doesn't even make sense.

When has Cutler ever played for a championship? I think he was benched by the coaching staff but they don't want say it to the media.

Peep this...

http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2011/01/either_collins_lied_or_nfl_net.html

The NFL Network is reporting that backup quarterback Todd Collins
left Sunday's loss against the Packers because of a shoulder injury and
will undergo an MRI today, although when I asked Collins point-blank
after the game whether he had left because of an injury, the veteran
denied it.

"They just made a switch," Collins told me. "It was a coach's
decision."

----------------------------------------------------------

Man it looks like the Bears are lying. I think they benched Cutler and Collins since they were both playing like gargabe and used the injury as the excuse for their benchings.

Tod Collins is like 59 years old so I'm sure if one of those d-lineman even farted on him he'd get injured.

I think with Cutler's injury it was his right leg, that's the leg you need to plant with to throw. He gave it ago after half time despite being injured, couldn't plant his leg and he's useless at that point so Lovie yanked him.

Cutler just isn't liked because of his personality around the media. He hates doing interviews, he feels uncomfortable so he comes off like a jerk when the reality is it's probably just him not being comfortable with the situation. Some people are great with the media, others aren't and the guys who aren't typically get slammed by the media.

Any seahawk fans think Matt Hassleback would get questioned like this if he went out in similar fashion? Hell no. Matt ran 1 yard for a touchdown and the closet defensive guy was 10 yards away and he hurt himself somehow missing the rest of the game and the following game. But Matt is 10000X more likable.

There have been guys with MCL injuries that never played again, career ending. There have been guys with the same second grade sprain and can't play another snap. So everyone who is an online doctor explain that.

There were clearly times at the end of the 2nd where cutler was in pain. It was very obvious. At half time they announced cutler was injured. He came out in the 3rd and that was it.

So Cutler just took the benching and said ok...I'm having a bad day...so be it...I'll play along.

Cutler is lying too then right? Either he faked the injury or Lovie yanked him...which is it? Both?

He jumped on the stationary bike for show?

I think you're grasping at straws Tony.

Just saw on ESPN that Jay Cutler used the stairs instead of an elevator at a restraunt last night. I shit you not, ESPN reported that. And I don't think anyone's career was ever ended from a MCL tear. ACL maybe.

I think Lovie yanked him because he was playing like crap. His rating was bad that the backup didn't complete one pass and still had a better rating.

Drew Brees played this year with a torn MCL.

DB: No, it's not fair unless you know exactly what it is. And I think at this point there's varying degrees of when MCL tear or sprain can be. In essence, it's the same thing. An MCL sprain means you tore your MCL to some degree. In some cases I know players that have torn an MCL and been out for six weeks. In some cases it's four weeks. In some cases it's two. And sometimes you're able to fight through and play. None of us know exactly what is, nobody except Jay Cutler and the Bears training staff. So it's nothing that any of us have the right to comment on because we just don't know.

Did you play this season with a sprained MCL?

DB: I did, I did.
