The mirage of the Get Quick scheme has been exposed for the fraud it was, and now only the strong survive in these hard times, but honestly that's a good thing. If anything is time for the OG's to take the available talent under their wing and start giving them game on what it takes to be more than just a artist. In the end, the real gonna shine so if you ready to grind and smarten up your moves, by all means keep playin the game. Would you stop playin basket ball just becasue you couldn't make it to the league? Would you stop playing a musical instrument just because you were not a member of a successful traveling band. Then why would you quit rappin because you may not be the top bread winner in the game. If you love what you do, then that is the bottom line to it all. Tay, we see each other in traffic from time to time, and it always does my heart good to see one of the trail blazers/pioneers still rockin it like you just started. Now that's love for the game. I challenge alot of you cats to first make it 15 years in the game (based on what success means to you) and still have the determination and fire it takes to go hard as you did before you had kids, familes and other distractions. Niggas is staright up quitters now a days. Niggas like 40 wasn't trippin off no soundscan or BDS back then. Niggas was pushin a line in a game that made life a lil easier than the dope game did. We used to look at the Rap Game as a legitimate exit out the business if you know what I mean. Our generation made the game look way too easy. Nowadays any and everybody can be a star. Niggas can sit behind a computer and load as many songs as you want on youtube or myspace but until you get out them streets and test the market you tryna pop in, you can forget it. Me personally,I'm proud of the success and the failures of the region. I love seein OG's and new comers like J-Stalin, Shady Nate, Beeda Weeda, Erk (don't really know if he new but the nigga hot), King Cydal etc. go for their like real niggas supposed to. That's what the game was built on, plantin seeds in the streets so you can eat. What other region outside of the South even gets mentioned like the Bay and L.A. do??? I'm glad Devro & Impereal (or Tae) made this post cause finally there's a topic real niggas can spit on and anybody lookin for free game can slide thru and get laced. It's the end of one year, and cats need to be plottin and strategizing their moves for 2009 or figure to get left behind.

I think a big problem in the recent past, has been the economy. Keeping gas in your car, could cut into your liesure budget, and prevent you from buying a cd or two. Also we are entering a recession, a good time to get your music done, perfect it, and have it ready for when the economy bounces back. Folks need to understand the patience that comes with this game, and to not lose focus based on having to wait for that break of opportunity. Also, Creativity is a definite factor that the rap game we know today is missing. Folks also need to get back to the drawing board to come up with a new sound that describes this new era we're living in. Some may call it taking a chance, but the game of today needs something groundbreaking. The 80's had their sound, so did the 90's, but it seems that some folks tend to get sidetracked with the hits they hear on the radio and feel it's ok to incorporate what they heard on the radio, rather than a natural formula. I understand that relevance is important, but consumers want to be moved with a sound that hasn't been invented yet. I remember seeing The Bay being on top back in the 90's & how good it felt to ride to the Mobb sound that was CREATED here in the Bay. Every rapper was rappin' their ass off, grindin' hard and for sure results was what they seen. I had the chance to hit up a few different spots, and I have people from all across the US that tell me how much they miss the older Bay sound. I'm real confident with our artists & I want to hear the Bay take this game to the future and if we all can concentrate on our quality of music, it could potentially increase our chances of seeing profitable results. I still buy CD's if the music is tight or to my liking. I am a big E-40 fan but I didn't rush out to buy his album (I don't even plan on buying it) because it's weak to me after hearing it. I only like 2 songs on that mf. Now I don't have a problem with an artist expanding or getting creative by reaching out and getting different mf's on their albums. But with features from T-Pain, Akon, Shawty Lo, I am not about to spend my money on that crap. If I want to hear T-Pain all I gotta do is turn on KMEL. Bring somebody new out that no one's has heard before. I get annoyed from Akon's voice and Shawty Lo's can't rap to save his life. So why would I support something like that? I used to rush to the store when the new E-40 came out...

I prefer mobb music, that underground music that makes my head bobb and speakers bump. Keak tha Sneak's latest album was well worth the money spent ("Her name" knocks). Turf Talk's last album was worth the money that I spent.

Independent Artists struggle because they drop weak music!

Mac Dre was independent but he was selling records because his music was tight.

As tight as San Quinn is, I've never heard a solo from him that was worth buying (maybe except for "The Hustle Continues")

Records/CD sales will increase if you'll quit making weak music.
