I agree. That was an informative article.

Hyphy is OK as a "foot-in-the-door" for the Bay Area rap music scene. But because of the dance-oriented nature of the music, people need to be prepared for the fact that even if Hyphy DOES blow up on a complete national level, it probably won't last in the spotlight for that long (quality or not, most styles of music don't, because the media has always had an "out w/ the old, in w/the new" attitude).

Hopefully there can be ANOTHER Bay Area rap style to be "next" in the national spotlight once Hyphy fades out. That way, the Bay can continue to get the widespread attention it deserves. Otherwise, the Bay will be thought of (by those who don't know any better) as a one-trick pony musically speaking, which of course is far from the truth. Just my view, though.

PEACE!

i hate when people bitch about the yay not getting any attention, then when it finally does, they find another reason to bitch about it. Get over it, hip hop evolves, it doesnt go backwards.

We've been looking stupid. It doesn't matter. Look at the hammer dance and the humpty dumpty dance. Bay folks know how to have fun. thats all. No matter how dumb we look outside of the Bay- us bay folks will continue to go dumb.

I'm starting to think this hyphy movement will become a fad. At first I thought there would be a bright future, but there are way too many cats trying to get on this hyphy tip and it's starting to get annoying. One of the dumbest titles for a song is Shake your helmet. I mean the song is koo and all but its a generic hyphy song. To me it doesnt really have that hyphy formula in it. I pretty much have mixed feelings about this movement now. I dont know what else to say.
