Irv Gotti Questions Eminem's Rap Legacy, "How Can We Say The Guy Is The Best Rapper A

Murder Inc. head Irv Gotti recently addressed Eminem's placement on Vibe's "Best Rapper Alive" list and questioned the rapper's emcee skills as compared to Jay-Z and Ja Rule.

Claiming his opinion is not based on their past beef, Irv broke down his issues with Slim Shady.

"Vibe did a thing and they had him as the No. 1 rapper," Gotti said. "Sh*t like that kinda pisses me off. You know why? Because let's take Eminem's records. Watch my analogy. Eminem is a great artist, no doubt. He puts words together, he's witty, a smart lyricist, a great lyricist. But how can we say the guy is the best rapper alive? Look at Hov...I been to battles with [DMX], Jay and Ja, that was some real sh*t. Homie, you wouldn't been able to survive...I say take Eminem, and let him say 'Hard Knock Life.' Still hot. Now, let's have Jay-Z say the 'We Made You' song. They would laugh him out the f*cking building...It would be over." (MTV)

He need to let it go cause that "best rapper" label will ALWAYS be disputed based on

record sales
delivery
word play
beats
songs
etc...

when is getting straight As in college a bad thing ?
I agree. People talk down on those who are educated. I remember Stat Quo getting flack for being a college graduate. BS

In the new XXL magazine that just came out there were results from a poll taken last month.

7,776 votes asking if Eminem was the best rapper alive.

65% say yes
35% say no

Wasn't that "Greatest Rapper Alive" thing by Vibe based on a poll? So Vibe didn't choose Em, the voters did. And yeah Jay-Z can't do "We Made You" cuz that ain't his style, it's Eminem's style.

Ja strength is his songwriting abilities, however lyrically he is better than DMX...But Em and Jay? not at all.

lol @ comparing Jay's "Hard Knock Life" to Em's "We Made You"

Jay had lots of meaningless singles too, "Excuse Me Miss" for example.

So why not compare Hard Knock life to Way I Am. He had to choose one of Em's goofiest singles to compare to Hard Knock?

and also, has he forgotten Em's verse on Renegade?

"And Eminem murdered you on your own shit" Nas

I like both artists, but Irv should not attempt another "analogy" ever again. :)
