If everyone followed the Bible leaves the variable, as Heresy mentioned, pertaining to interpretation. The same may be said with any general religious designation: Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, etc.
And then even within the sects that are within these general religious designations, it sometimes happens that they break up over some dispute, creating new sects. This is the age we are living in: quarrel & hypocrisy.
If there were no desire for material opulence, then there would be no degradation, as there has been. In some cases it is harder because we're dealing with texts in another language and are without a bonafide representative of God to rightly explain these texts. Therefore speculation results.
Personally, I could say that if everyone followed Vedanta texts like Bhagavad-Gita, Srimad Bhagavatam, Sri Isopanisad, Brahma Samhita, etc. as they have been passed down through the Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya Sampradaya, then the world would be a better place, and I would have more faith in saying this than simply saying, "if everyone followed the Vedas..." or "if everyone followed the Bible..." or "if everyone followed the Koran..."
