the bottom line. if hyphy brings money to the bay then so be it. companies like MTV are only interested in what can be easily labled and sold to the mass public. A lot of shit out here can't. But then again, isn't that how it is in every city/state. You have the soundscan killers with that pop chart sound, then 10 times as many emcees bossing hard in their repsective cities. Only difference is, when you have national attention from a "movement", then those other artist can get heard and played. Regardless of what its called, hyphy is good for the bay. if 40's shit keeps selling and getting play, then people are going to start looking over here real hard. pop music will always get top billing, that's what the mainstream is all about. but without it, then cats in the bay stay local and never blow. it's bigger than the movement name. its about money, and the OG's know that.
