man , i just logged on and seen some nigga named laki or something like that. i aint even heard of this nigga and he's chargin 1000 dollars a fuckin verse plus the plane ticket and all that kinda shit. if i aint heard of him then he probably aint that tight. so who the fuck would pay that much for a verse. i heard cellski charges 1000 for a verse which is fine but then i seen brotha lynch chargin over 3000. cellski is better than that nigga. celly cell was chargin over 3000 too. i don't know who would pay these niggas to do a verse like that. this nigga laki or whatever the fuck is hustlin niggas for their money. the only people that should charge that much are san quinn, e-40, b-legit, richie rich, yukmouth, numskull, and maybe messy marv. those niggas are some big names in the bay, not laki or whoever the fuck. i hope no one is paying all that money. them niggas think they better than they are. that's all and i'm out.

most artists who are on the radio like nas and jay z charge 4 to 5 gs ore more a verse. that is you you don't see more htan one verse usualy on a feature. or sometimes they can be on each other's albums and agree to that.

Artists are allowed to place their own value on their time and work. If it's too high, try to work out a deal with them, or move on... I agree that a number of those artists may not be worth the price listed, but it's their business decision to make...

like i said, you never talk about music. you post shit about who truazn could be next. some of that shit you were saying about truazn was pretty funny back in the days but now you have gone downhill. you post hour long messages that no one has time to read. give it up already. your the dumbass for thinking that i am the great one. aa fuck it i don't care about this shit anymore. let's post some shit about BAY AREA MUSIC not about some fuckin asian guy.

You are worth whatever you can get

If somebody is willing to pay $1000, then that's what he's worth, at least to them. A lot of artists and producers think just because they release a project that gives them the credibility to charge a stupid price. I feel like an artist needs to be looking for opportunities to shine and network until they are truly on top. I can't think of any artists in the bay right now that are TRULY on top... IMHO

most artists who are on the radio like nas and jay z charge 4 to 5 gs ore more a verse. that is you you don't see more htan one verse usualy on a feature. or sometimes they can be on each other's albums and agree to that.
Jay Z for 5 racks?? Multiply that by 20 and he MIGHT think about NOT doing it.

If you mean Loki, you're trippin' if you've never heard of him. Do you listen to west coast rap or ONLY the stuff that comes out of the sco? Loki is definitely worth 1g.

And Lynch... lol... 3 g's is a steal. If you got a solid album already, just putting Lynch's NAME on your cd is going to boost sales by at LEAST a couple thousand. People will buy it just for his name. Lynch is better than any of the artists you named btw... besides E-40, Yuk, and maybe Quinn. Lynch is a fuckin' legend just for putting out SOTS and Loaded. He may not come with verses that are as hard as he used to, but like so many people said before this:

You are paying money to put their NAMES on your cd, not necessarily their VERSES. Seeing those names on the CD cover or whatever instantly will hook someone... including me if they got enough tight features.

Dissin Loki.... wtf

Jay-Z is over $600,000 for a verse. I hear NAS is in the 100K plus range. Most hot artists wont even do a verse even for the bread if there isn't high powered labels and radio and video possiblities anyhow.

Regarding what artists charge...it's like J-Bone said, if thats what they feel they are worth and they get it then they are worth it. Like Laroo's album title says "One Man's Trash is another man's treasure". I'm not a fan of alot of cats that are getting $500 to $1000 but the same thing can be said about artists I work with. Production is different than a feature though because a producer's name is not going to sell an album any more unless it is Neptunes or Dr. Dre.

An artist is not different than a concrete worker. Are you going to ask a construction firm why he charges $10,000 to lay concrete or are you going to pay him what he and his work is worth? This is how artists eat so we need to respect it. Maybe they stay high so just anybody can't get them on something. On the same note, most artists to need to shine. To each their own. Respect the next mans hustle.

Peace.

That is very true. Established artists have worked to make their own fanbase. When you feature an established artist, you're basically paying the artist money to get a percentage of their fanbase to buy your album. You may get 10% of Lynch's dedicated fans to buy your album just by having him featured.

It's not about the quality of the verse the feature lays, but their name. It's an investment. If you've got hustle, you should be able to get way more than $3000 in net sales for featuring Lynch, so you should at least break even.

B-12 thanks for the information. You are the most respected member of the Siccness and always bless us with your constant and vast knowledge of the ins and outs of the music industry. You got a good business and street sense and thanks again for the 411. 600 K for a verse from Jigga? that is steep! I wonder how much Droop got for Kobe soz's album but anyways i don't think jigga is worth that much for a verse. Anyways, what do you guys think of the verses that these superstars do on the features/ I think NAs does a good job on tracks he does with other artists. He did two verses on Scarface's The Fix cd which were tight. e 40 does a good job i must admit too and i am no e 40 fan. I think he does better on those than on his own songs. that is how i feel i am not a big 40 fan
