If you pay even a hundred dollars for a feature your payin too much. Unless whom ever you are paying for is gonna sell you a hundred records. We tried to get 40 for a remix of "like Us" I was gonna do. He wanted 4 grand. If he aint sellin me 4 thousand copies off his name alone, then he aint gettin 4 grand.

thats what cats gotta realize when there gonna pay for a verse.your payin them for there name.if you think that name and albums they've put out will help you sell your album then its all good.if dude dont got no album out and wants to charge 2000,is havin his name on your album cover gonna get your investment back?

its funny when dudes get on here or on the streets talkin bout chargin a few hundo's for a verse when they aint "worth" shit............

Concious Daughters sent one of there recent releases to Dame Dash a couple years back and he personally sent that shit back. Every song had a feature on it. He said they werent lookin to put out Mix tapes.
Him sending it back had nothing to do with features. Since Amil tanked, the roc was not signing any female mc's PERIOD

if u have no features on your album...good luck selling it 2 a distributer, that aint gonna happen. if u wanna showcase ur talent then do mixtapes and do shows 2 build your buzz...cause if its just you and u r a brand new act, ur shit is gonna just sit on the racks of rasputins and saeed aint never gonna re order
let's be real...i'm a huge quinn and yuck fan, two of my favorite rappers
but, them being on my album, is not gonna get some label on the east coast, or distributor in LA to want to carry my album
you gotta get a buzz on the street first

you right, having no features does hurt with distribution companies. I had a hard time finding a distro on the first Slo-O album just cause of that but we got it done. I featured a lot of upcomers, even though i could of gotten known names.

Man i would say forget features right now cause most cats got big heads when it comes to there own area instead of trying to network. But i mean there are some that would just do it for $500 just to show love. Alot of dont seem to remember they were once in your shoes to. but at the sametime i would say do your thing and get some unknown cats that are raw, slang that shit in the streets. The streets talk and if u raw u will get your shine. Might be out of context but its a thought.

half the time when artist do comps. or paystyles, its wack.
i mean they still bring their name and voice but trust me its watered down lyrics. they already got a name so theirs no point commin hard on some no name kats shit.

now if you build a name and your cd is gettin copped, other more popular artists might want to fuck wit you, cause they can get shine in your market. <<<<<well steal your fans basically.

>>>>also trading sometimes works. lets say you make beats. shop the beats around, you might run in to a big name who wants your beat, trade it for a verse. granted all main names got production but they might just want your beat structure. you know reproduce your shit.

or trade artwork freelance some covers and charge a verse. whatever,,,, in the end i dont give a fuck... cause its a well nown fact that rappers come wack on other peoples shit. especially for somebody who is standing at the doorstep and not even in the party yet....<<<<peace

Just wonderin....how much does spice 1 charge? Now that's a vet I would want on my album...

I was lookin through my old stuff the other day and I found a 12 inch of strap to my side and man that shit brought me back

Only features I would ever pay for or want on my album would be people I'm feelin and/or grew up listening to. From Spice 1 to Ise Lyfe (this cat got skills).... Known or unknown..... If u got skills I'd love to collab on a song.... For an album or not, just for the love of music.

And whoever said the gorilla pits album was garbage....man u trippin....that was a well rounded album, I was feelin every track, mostly the ones without the features...
