Didn't Rattay take the QB reins for a lil bit while Owens was still there. Or was that just when Garcia was injured for a couple week stint. And If I remember right they might have benched him for Rattay before, I could be wrong as much shit as I been slippin on.
Nah he never got benched. Rattay played a few games while Owens was still there and Garcia was injured.

@xpanther.. Gilroy is a town of about 50,000 people.. 20 minutes south of San Jose, about 20 minutes North of Salinas. The population is mostly Mexican-Americans and I guess it would be safe to say it is generally middle-class. And as Jabbz said the East Side is completely different than the West end.. It is known as the "Garlic Capitol of the World," but a lot of the field they used to grow that garlic is being sold and built on. The town is growing tremendously and it's safe to say the census is wrong about the population because a lot of people lie about how many residents live in their households. For a town as small as it is, one would guess there would be little to no professional athletes coming out of it, especially an All-Pro QB. Some people hate him, think he's gay because of the way he speaks or dresses.. Some people support him and wish him the best, regardless of what team he's on. 49er fans that didn't like him.. They didn't like him because he wasn't Steve Young or Joe Montana. It would be hard for any QB to follow in the footsteps of those two.

Let me break down Vince Young's season..

Vs. NYJ:
3 of 4 for 27 yards, 1 INT

Not enough play to judge. But the one pick wasn't smooth.

Vs. SD
7 of 19 for 106 yards, 1 TD

Low completion percentage, low yardage.

Vs. DAL
14 of 29 for 155 yards, 1TD 2 INTs

Not completely terrible, but the 2 INTs killed it.

Vs. IND
10 of 21 for 63 yards, 1 INT

Terrible.

Vs. WAS
13 of 25 for 161 yards, 1 TD

Not too bad, not "good" QB numbers.

Vs. HOU
7 of 15 for 87 yards, 1 TD

Fairly weak.

Vs. JAX
15 of 36 for 163 yards, 1 TD 3 INTs

WEAK.

Vs. BAL
13 of 25 for 211 yards, 1 INT

Not too bad, except for that pick.

Vs. PHI
8 of 22 for 101 yards, 1 TD

Another weak performance.

Vs. NYG
24 of 35 for 249 yards, 2 TDs

Easily his best game.

Vs. IND
15 of 25 for 163 yards, 2 TDs 2 INTs

More INTs added to an otherwise mediocre performance.

Vs. HOU
19 of 29 for 218, 1 INT

Decent yardage, decent completion percentage, but there's another INT with no TDs.

Vs. JAX
8 of 15 for 85 yards

Weak.

All together he was 184 of 357 for 2199 yards, 12 TDs 13 INTs
He also ran 83 times for 552 yards and 7 TDs

Point being he did not single-handedly win all 7 of those games with him as a QB stricly because he was the QB. He is not GOOD just yet. He will be IMO, but he is not yet. He's decent with his legs, but as a QB he is not on the level you two think he is.
Good breakdown!! That's why he shouldn't have won rookie of the year.

And about Garcia.... he's a warrior and I gotta lot of respect for him. He's a damn good quarterback and Philly wouldn't not be in the playoffs if they didn't have Garcia as a backup. He's still good enough to be a starter he just has to play in a westcoast offense. I am not going to judge his character because I don't know him personally. Who gives a shit if he got caught driving under the influence of alcohol. A lot of people do... he just got caught. He had playboy models fighting over him. He's a playa fo sho.

Alot of people do get DUI's...and it's a dumb thing to do. It's not a professional or mature thing to do.

In professional sports it becomes a distraction because the media harps on it a million fuckin' times.

And regardless of what Fatal might say...I don't hate Garcia. He played hard when he was in Cleveland.

What I didn't like...and the reason I say he's not professional...is because when here...he partied all the time. He would say he's still learning the playbook, he wanted to spend time with the offensive players, etc. But then he was in the clubs every night and was known to be sleeping around (that's what caused the fighting with this lady).

All of this was well documented. He was on the local news all the time for this crap.

If this was some regular joe...I wouldn't give a damn. But when you pay someone 6 million dollars a year...and it is no longer the off-season...I do.

I wasn't expecting him to save the franchise...but I was expecting him to act like a professional and play well.

lol...I guess my expectations were a little high.

^I hear you... but I didn't know all of that. But that's his personal business. Athletes are entitled to live their private lives. If he sleeps around then that's his business. What he does in his bedroom is his business. Hella athletes sleep around and cheat on their wives.

I sleep around my damn self. Doesn't make me a bad person though does it?

When you are a professional athlete...everything you do is in the media.

And at the time...Garcia was a big-name free agent. He was looked at to help turn around a struggling team. He wasn't on the news here...but in Cleveland...he was on all the time.

I don't care what anyone does in their private lives...he really could be gay and I could give two shits about it.

But during the season...you shouldn't be out partying and putting yourself in those type of situations.

He partied all the time...slept around...cheated on his new playboy playmate...and it caused a media frenzy cause he ended up in court.

This was at a time when he was "still learning the playbook" and was supposed to be focusing on the season.

Private life or not...that will end up in the media.

^Well if he's partying all the time it must not be affecting his game that much because the Eagles are the hottest team in the NFC.

This was two teams ago...he might have changed.

Not only that...he's in a system that he's used to.

At least he was on the field after paryting and sleeping around. Couldn't be worse then Kellen Winslow who was poppin wheelies and shit when he didn't even know how to ride a motorcycle.

What does Winslow have to do with Garcia? Anything? Anything at all?

Again...this thread is not about Winslow. If you want to talk about Winslow...make a new thread and let's discuss him there.

But for the record...it wasn't worse. What Winslow did was much worse cause he got hurt.

But immature things are going to happen with 21 and 22 year olds.

Garcia was a 30 something vet who had been to pro bowls. He was looked at to help stabilize the QB position and to provide guidance to a relatively young team.

He didn't do that.

Thanks for the responses on Gilroy, I Census queried it and it looked like a great place for middle class Mexican Americans who want to get the fuck out of some of the bad spots in the Bay but can't afford some of the super rich spots, and from the responses, that sounds about right.

Jeff Garcia is ballin.

Pykillaman has no idea what he's talking about.

So all those times he went to the Pro Bowl in SF and took the Niners to the playoffs wasn't shit? LMFAO!!!!

I am a fan of Jeff Garcia.. He's from my hometown and I was rooting for him to do well and take the starting job in SF when they decided to sign him after Steve Young was out. I know some of his family and I've met him several times, he's a cool cat. So I am rooting for Philly in the playoffs and wishing Jeff all the success in the world. I've always said the Niners shouldn't have let him walk.

LOOKS LIKE I WAS WRONG ABOUT OL JEFFY HUH FATAL?

I mentioned Winslow because they were teammates at one point in time. And if you are going to get on Garcia for the shit he was doing off field you need to get on Winslow too because he was supposed to be Garcia's go to guy. But this asshole was out poppin wheelies and shit. You can't put all the blame on Garcia for not stablilzing the QB position in Cleveland, because the Cleveland Browns are a poorly coached team.

you musta been watchin in your own world playboy cuz that shit never went down. i never seen dude avoid contact like that. you tryna make him out to be a pussy. all the analysts and announcers are always yappin bout how he's a tough individual and when he was on the niners his coaches were advicing him to go down before he gets hit. dude normally dove head first like steve young used to do. the only knock on dude is lack of arm strength but that shit aint much of a factor in a west coast offense.

when garcia was a niner there were 2 groups on niner fans..... the ones who liked him because of the way he plays, and the ones who hated on him for personal reasons. this quick dude is obviously in the 2nd category.

and whoever said every good qb has had a good surrounding cast is right.

Show me ANYTHING that one person in this whole world said he is a tough QB??? PLEASE DO SO....... I watched every game he played.... Never once in a 9ers uniform did he dive head first NEVER....... Like steve young used to do????? LLLLLOOOOOOLLLLLLLLL No one is talking about what dude does in his free time where are talking about his average performance as a QB.....

its funny ya'll trying to discredit Vince Young tho, for what??? Vince Young didnt have a great QB season so that makes Garcia better.........

He's a GOOD Quarterback, NOT A GREAT Quaterback...........

Garcia played for one season, 2004. Winslow was hurt in 2004, but not because he was "poppin' wheelies". He broke his leg in the second game of the season trying to recover on on-side kick.

So if you are going to criticize...at least know what the fuck you are talking about.

And I'm not putting "all the blame" on Garcia. I said that he was unprofessional...which he was...and he sould definitey share some of the blame.

Butch Davis...that's a whole other story.

LOL.

@ gimpy.. When his playmate girlfriend whooped the chick's ass in the club.. that was Jeff's ex who got stomped out. It wasn't about him cheating on her.

@ Quick.. I don't know what the fuck is wrong with you. Next time you watch Jeff Garcia play, PAY ATTENTION. Listen to the fuckin announcer. You're a hopeless cause.

And the reason I decided to show you the breakdown of Vince Young is because you tried to make him seem better than he is. He is in no way a GOOD QB yet. So, try again to name a fuckin GOOD QB who has no talent around him, since you're trying to discredit Garcia for playing well with talent around him. That's what good QBs do.. They utilize their talented cast.

@ xpanther.. Gilroy is not exactly the place to go if you wanna get away from the rough spots in the Bay. It's a small town, but shit goes down real deep. Morgan Hill on the other hand..

What was said on the news was that he cheated on the playmate with his ex. That's why she got beat up.

Either way...that shit is all gossip. And really...more than I care to know.

My whole point was that instead of even being in that situation...he should have been at home studying. Or bonding with his new team-mates.

Fuck it...you get my point.
