I guarentee you make a hit record KMEL and any other radio station will play it. Quit putting the blame on radio for local artist not being on there. Name 1 hit song that you think people wanna hear that is not on the radio????
thats bullshit its hella shit they can be playin
But isn't it a local radio station obligation to help support the local artists in some way or fashion...you shouldn't have to have a hit record to get on the radio...the radio should be helping make local artist get some buzz by playing their tracks

I guess the people that are still asking this question is a youngin. We been through this since the damn 80s. It's waves. Why the hell you think Mac Dre's OG song "Too Hard For The Fucking Radio" came out. The music we make in the bay ain't commercial. Wild rather play Brooke Hogan than Bay shit. That's the bizness. Bay music don't make radio stations any money. Wether or not money or politics has to do with it, the music has to be at least commercial. Unfortunately the most commercial artist(s) "The Team" ain't making hits no more. People still not believing that it's the music, start listing some Bay songs that aren't on the radio but should be. Bring up Jacka/AP9, Hoodstarz, or any cats like them, then you trippin. You have no idea what commercial songs is. All the songs we want on the radio is too hood simple as that. Teenage girls ain't gonna be singing about no "Video Vixen".

ok what about clyde carson "doin that", barely anyplay, kaz kyzah feat. nina sky, thats a hit record, got no radio play. i can list on and on but the point is, they could be doing there part a lot more. your saying why would they play keak and hoodstars and all that, the same reason why they did last year and the years before that, why stop now when its needed the most.

Cause it didn't make then any money. You're talking about two different things. What people want. And what the money wants.

PS, I said "The Team" on my post. Not Clyde, Kaz, or Mayne

I agree that's it's the kinda music we make and that it's been goin on forever.

But what about.. "Hood Figga" "I'm So Hood" "We Takin Over" "Duffle Bag Boy" "International Playaz Anthem" Lil Wayne shit. We make better versions of those types of songs.

"Doin That" was never released as an official single, they couldnt get Sean Kingston cleared...Kaz Kyzah ft. Nina sky was a mixtape record and not an original record...

^^^
theres nothing that is out thats worth playing in the bay.

"This a hit...That a hit"
lol if it was a hit it would actually have people REQUESTING THE SONG.
It's all about requests. The station isnt going to play anything that doesnt get requested locally. I know lots of On Air's got interns doing calls where they are on the request line with a prefilled selection of their usual playlist that they can put a check next to. There is also a small 'Other'.
In the bottom of the sheet is a section that asks the Gender/Age/Race (that you thought the caller was. You cant ask them what gender/age/race you have to guess). And wat I saw the female requests got played a lot more. So ofcourse the sheets would have Soulja Boy - Crank That checked rather than Clyde Carson - Doin That
That was the format for a couple of clear channel stations.
