I don't have any health insurance right now, as I am still job hunting and moving in with a friend. Gotta find a job soon after that. I'm not going to screw her over because she's putting a lot of faith in me..

Anyway, I've been getting migrains now for a few days and they won't stop. Pain killer doesn't even dampen it. And I also have a sore throat that may be strep but I don't know.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any home remedies for migraines or bad headaches, or sore throats. I can't afford to hit up the doctor right now until I get insurance again whenever that is.

Migraines can be painful...i personally would recommend a decent Sativa to alleviate light migraines and moderate heachaches...
White Widow works great for light pain relief and stress

Trainwreck is a great for physical body pain and slightly worse heachaches, i'd recommend a dosage of 1/2 to a whole gram every 3 hours

Romulan is an excellent sedative and eases the mind, good for its dissaociatve effect on pain and nerve numbing qualities

I’m sorry I don’t have any remedies that may help you, but I’d like to say that it’s fucked up that the richest country in the world cannot provide basic healthcare for those in need. Over 45 million Americans are living without any coverage, and I’m sure tens of millions on top of that have bullshit insurance policies. Pisses me off.

My homeboy doesnt have health insurance and he went to a free clinic. He had to wait a couple of hours to see someone but they treated him and gave him medication in the form of samples, a grip of them. They didnt charge him anything but it is based on your income and assets in CA.

Yea, many years ago, my dad fell and broke his lower back and injured his leg. He couldn't work for a long time while he healed up. And we were screwed over. We're still in debt over that and it happened when I was 13 or 14. I'm 22 now. His insurance didn't handle a lot of it, so we had to put a lot on our credit cards and his extra income was lost soon after that because back injuries take a long time to heal. I come from a middleclass household where my education cost us an arm and a leg, and my insurance ended when I graduated. So I need a job with benefits ASAP. I'm just going to have to be sick until a job hires me and my bennies kick in. It's really unfair.

Migranes: There is a incense called Nag Champa.,...not the red pack, but the blue pack- those work hella good for headaches...so I'm thinking the same for migranes.

For the sore throat- you should take the peel of an apple, or 2 apples- bring them to a boil for about 5 minutes, then add a bit of honey to sweeten it up, & let it simmer for 3 or 4 more minutes. Drink the tea as hot as possible- you should feel better shortly.

accupuncture is another good way to get rid of migranes.....but I wouldnt do it yourself if I were you, it can be dangerous if you dont know what your doing

That apple peel drink is looking good. I can't even talk my throat is so bad.. Thanks. I will try that.

Yeah, that shit is so common. In fact, the vast majority of people who file for bankruptcy do so because of overwhelming medical bills. I even wrote an article about it, located here.

I get migranes all the time since I was 10 years old, lemme tell you what works for me. Get something like a bandana or the cloth belt that goes to a bathrobe and tie that shit around your head as tight as possible. Preferably over the part in your head that is aching the most. Then get an icepack or a a frozen vegetable package and place it directly on top of the ache as well. Migrane headaches happen when blood vessels in your head dialate. The counter-pressure from the bandana and the cold from the ice pack will help constrict those vessels back to normal. Its not a remedy you can do on the go or at work, but it does help a whole lot at home. Also, try avoiding any light in the house, even light from a tv set can prolong my migrane

Yea, light and me have not been friends for the past few days.. I think my migraines are because of stress also. Loans and bills, and all that happy stuff.

I will try the apple peel remedy suggested before for my throat, and also the bandana/ice one for my head.

Thanks everyone for the ideas.

yeah I agree it's fucked up that we don't have healthcare for all people here....But I also find it funny that alot of my friends can have digital cable, yet REFUSE to pay LESS than that for single person coverage....even if yer job doesn't supply it, I wouldn't be caught without!

Crow,

For your throat, try some hot salty water and gargle. Lots of salt and as hot as you can handle. The head ache, the suggestion given before is good. Maybe also put some tiger balm or vicks vapor rub on your temples and back of your neck. I hope you feel better soon. If not just go to a clinic.

^^ Thanks. I tried the apple peel remedy and it soothed my throat. I did the hot salty water and I gargled and spit it out.. and damn it brought a lot out!! I didn't realize I was so sick. The headache is fading, so I hope I've seen the last of it.

I don't get sick often, and I blame my allergies/sinuses for this attack.
