I BOUGHT Its A Compton Thang! when it CAME out....i hade the TAPE....i had the first 3 albums on tape...Music To Driveby being my favorite....but i bought em cus it was just gritty gangsta shit....not cus he was givin Rakim a run for his money...

Yes...IACT! was his best "lyrical" output of his young career....but to say his one of the best MC's ever????WHOA dude...thats some outlandish shit....to say hes AS good as people like Rakim or Ras Kass....now youre just being silly...even DJ QUIK lyrically slaughtered him....and he aint even that tight himself!!!!!Hes a fuckin DJ and PRODUCER for gods sake...

In a battle...MC Eiht would cry....

THats like sayin Weird Al Yankovic is as good as Nirvana...
he murdered Quik horribly. Quik got slayed on Death Wish II. Quik was a party rapper. He pretty much stuck to pussy and substances. It was more Plus to say he is not an MC doesnt make any sense. Its like your saying that he couldnt hold his own. You must be crazy. Eiht was a heated battle rapper. Take for instance the Tim Dog Diss Who's Fxxxxxg Who. Eiht stepped up and hit the ball out of the park. He was also able to bring the gritty streets to a level very few MC's could acheive. Gangstaar was cool with him. Know your going to say whats that have to do with anything. Well think about it. Guru is an MC and most Emcees dont get along with rappers. Guru had love for Eiht and Eith had love for Gangstaar. In the west coast at that time MC's were far and few between. (Del, D.E., Hiero) Back then Eiht had the west coast MC on lock down. He could come aggresive and be able to flip words in a way that very few West Coast artists could do. Take for instance:

If I cough I wont stop Ill keep bustin/
Ill just pause and take a spoon of Robotusin/

Now that is pure MCing. Very few cats then could do that. See Eiht had the ability to flip and MC flow then switch to gangster on the fly. Unlike many rappers then and now. To say that Eiht is not a great is to spit in the face of rap. Eiht is a pioneer and a legend and a figurehead of the West Coast. CMW may have been one of the Best Groups in the West (Along with NWA, Hiero and many others) To say Eiht wasnt a gangster MC is like saying Run DMC wasnt not a pioneer of East Coast Rap.

Why would anyone read this crap? Stop wasting your time, read something better than this, this stuff is garbage. These people are trying to sell books they don't give a fuck about your opinions. Give me a break, I can't believe anyone would even let this shine for a second.

ahh, the never ending debate...i think the fact that this has been a discussion for years shows how important Pac even was. i mean, i see so many heads on here and so many older cats i talk to about hip hop and they'll say Pac was overrated (most likely cuz they dont listen to too much or grew up on something else), but its considered blasphemous if u the same opinion towards biggie or Jay-z...i mean, biggies one thing, but what people dont get is that Jay-z wouldnt be the Jay-z we know WITHOUT pac...dude has stolen like half of his rhymes...hes talented, but i love how people are using rappers now to say that theyre better than Pac.

edit: and i hope this sparks some debate, but i really believe it. people talk down on tupac cuz they think his "rhymes" werent up to par with their favorite rappers, but cmon, New York BIT the whole "Thug" thing. all of everyones favorite mainstream (and many underground) new york artists were influenced by Pac, plain and simple. and does that make him overrated? i dont think so.

edit: i COMPLETELY disagree that tupac is the same as 50 cent. theres no comparison and to even make that comparison is astonishing and makes me question peoples opinions on hip hop.

Pac was more than a rapper. He was a figure. You know how you bump songs but don't really care about the lyrics? Like any mainstream track you ain't really listening for content. If the beat is cool and the whole song flows you don't really care what they are talking about. But with Pac you listened word for word on his tracks. You felt him on every track. Biggie is the only other rapper I know who had that attribute. Everyone can recite hundreds of flows from Pac and Biggie. That's how you know they were great. Their words are imprinted in people's heads. Pac wasn't the best Mc. He was probably the most influential in Hip hop history for sure.

I think i've seen Toure hosting "hip hop specials" on TV before and I doubt Pac's music was meant for him to understand anyways. But of course he is entitled to his opinion

When people say biggie is the best rapper, they are saying that his delivery was on point. For example, "B.I.G., P-O, P-P-A No info, for the, DEA". He was just spelling his name but his clever delivery is what made him dope.

When people say pac is the best rapper, they are saying that his content was relevant. His lyrics had a lot of passion behind them. For example, "And even as a crack fiend, mama/You always was a black queen mama/
I finally understand for a woman it ain't easy tryin to raise a man" He took from MLK, Malcom X, etc and incorporated it into his lyrics.

i dont see how he can say pac's overrated, cuz that all comes down to opinion. i'll admit there are a lot of people who love pac, while they themselves dont even understand what made his music so great...but that doesnt mean he's overrated.

shit, that guy put biggie, nas, & jay-z in his top 5...maybe that has something to do with why he's ignorin pac's skill. dude was probly all caught up in tha beef back in tha day, hatin' pac for dissin his favorite rappers:rolleyes:

seriously tho-- if you're not feelin pac's music, i guess you just arent deep like that..you cant relate to what he's sayin.
