I have blu ray. I honestly am not that impressed. I can barely tell the difference between blu ray and dvd. Only when I pop a dvd in after a br I can tell the difference. The main cool thing is it has masive amounts of room on it for mor commentary special feature type stuff.

what is blue ray movies? 3D or some shit?do the actors jump out your tv and give you dap or something? cause im still on DVD and that shit is super clear and sounds good.
For real. And I've been confused about this HD/Blu Ray shit for awhile. As far as I know Blu Ray is better but I'm unsure which ones gonna fade out. Because of that I'm not sure which one to focus on.

I want the better one which seems to be Blu Ray but I don't want it if its gonna be some shit that's discontinued by the year 2010.

Business Week: Blu-ray Is Winning
The publication says it could get Warner endorsement.
By Swanni

Washington, D.C. (December 7, 2007) -- Blu-ray has emerged as the clear front runner in the high-def DVD format war against HD DVD.

That's according to an analysis published today by Business Week magazine.

The publication, which has considerable influence in the financial world, writes that Blu-ray still holds the greatest support among Hollywood studios. Four major studios now back Blu-ray exclusively while only two support HD DVD exclusively.

Consequently, Business Week says, the Sony-backed Blu-ray disc has outsold HD DVD by roughly 2-1 for the past year.

Additionally, the publication reports that Sony may be close to landing an exclusive endorsement from Warner Bros., which until now has released films in both formats.

"The rumor is that Warner is coming aboard soon," Michael Burns, vice-chairman of Blu-ray supporter Lionsgate, tells Business Week. "That will make it awfully tough for HD DVD to stay in this game."

Business Week added that "either side could (win the Warner endorsement)...but the Sony group has suddenly emerged as the front runner."

"Persuading it (Warner) to sign an exclusive deal would give the Sony crowd about 70% of DVD market share. That could prompt the other studios to abandon HD DVD," the publication writes.

Business Week notes that if Warner were to join HD DVD, the format war would be stalemated.

"That could create mass consumer confusion and potentially strangle a new technology that the studios hope will give a lift to flagging DVD sales. That's exactly why Warner has long pushed for a single format," it said.

HD-DVD 15GB(single Layer) 30GB(Dual Layer)
Major studios currently offering HD DVD movies include Paramount, Universal, Warner

No HD DVD movies from Sony, MGM, Fox, Lionsgate, or Disney

Blu Ray 25GB (single Layer) 50GB(Dual Layer)
Major studios currently offering Blu-ray movies include Sony Pictures (including MGM/Columbia TriStar), Disney (including Touchstone and Miramax), Fox, Warner, and Lions Gate.

This is the main reason I havent invested. Only being able to buy specific movies for each format sucks ass. Unless you invest in the dual format player but to me for the money its just not worth it. I would rather have one format.

too soon to tell.. id say HD is gonna take off though.. more supporters have dropped blu ray and gone with HD. Just another excuse for sony to try to make more money.. i fucking hate them.

they do this with everything.. you need a ony memory stick, blu ray disc, they make everything proprietary.
your trippin blu-ray outsells hddvd 3 to 1 , and nobody dropped blu-ray hddvd just threw big money out for a few timed exclusives (transformers being the main one helping them even be this close) blu-ray is superior in every way hddvd 15gb max blu-ray 25 gb as is with dual layer make nit 50 gb
anybody who has ever compressed video knows what this means
