Good news. This time, we won't be burdening you with more talk of delays to Samsung's DB-UP5000 dual format player. On the contrary, a Samsung spokesperson told Dealerscope that the much anticipated HD DVD and Blu-ray player is on target for a "mid-to-late December" launch. Better yet, the price is down from $999 to a more reasonable $799. That is, until you consider the combined cost of a $499 $399 PS3 and sub-$200 HD DVD player.

It irritates me that this hd/bluray competition is still going on. No one wants to buy a player if the format is going to be discontinued in a year or two.

Fuck! And I'm almost done re-collecting my movies on DVD (from VHS).

Good thing is, I started to burn the DVD's for this very reason.

...but let's just hope "Blu-Ray" doesn't end up failing like "Zune", the "IPhone" or "Beta".

too soon to tell.. id say HD is gonna take off though.. more supporters have dropped blu ray and gone with HD. Just another excuse for sony to try to make more money.. i fucking hate them.

they do this with everything.. you need a ony memory stick, blu ray disc, they make everything proprietary.

what is blue ray movies? 3D or some shit?do the actors jump out your tv and give you dap or something? cause im still on DVD and that shit is super clear and sounds good.

i think id rather buy a ps3 for the blueray and buy an hd dvd player if the blueray failed

...so it must mean they're still working on the technology to increase, but thought: "Hey! let's make a quick buck now til we perfect it...we'll re-sell it to em double the price. We then sell the new upgrade for $1,400. $800.00 for every 5X's better. Just like we did the Beta, VHS and now DVD's. I love my job."

They laugh as they high five.
