The reason hyphy never really got off the ground is the term in it's self... "Hyphy" That's not very marketable...It's not catchy upon first hearing it and unlike Crunk it's not even used all over the state. So how can the world feel it, if the whole state isn't even feeling it... On top of that once you define it to an outsider and see what getting hyphy is, they are like " Hell no, I could never grow dreads, get fronts and hop all over the place like a got damn fool... " On top of that who really represents hyphy...not 40, that old school nigga is known for mobb music, not mac dre, that old school nigga is known for macking that romp gang sh*t and later on thizzin... The only noteable Hyphy musician is Mister Fab, and he has Zero nation wide appeal... I'm not talking about lyrics, I'm talkign about image. You have to create a new image to create a new trend and hyphy did none of that... Niggaz alread had grills, niggaz already had dreads, niggaz been acting a fool and tearing shit forever, and niggaz been makign up new words since we learned how to speak english... Hyphy lost it's hype, because that's all it ever really was...

Dreads were never really a fashion trend in the Bay unless you were a rasta man. But it's part of the trend now, it wouldn't be such a big deal if songs didn't immortalize growing out your hair.

Cornrows was the style a few years back see how people change themselves up
