I can't even remember the last successful college coach in the NFL. We'll see about Carroll.

Bobby Petrino
Nick Saban
Steve Spurrier
Dennis Erickson
Butch Davis
Mike Riley

Ouch!

so your trying to say now that Al is older you think he will throw MILLIONS @ a coach? Not even, fuckin Al would let a no-namer coach tha team before he ever had to pay a coach millions..
He gets no namers cuz no one wants to coach the raiders lol.

Tree or no tree...you still have to coach and play the game. Like just being from a "tree" somehow makes you great and you're gonna rip off 4 superbowls.

Recent history shows that college coaches don't do well in the NFL.

Did you guys see Steve Young's reaction on NFL Live? He was happy as fuck and said the Niners nailed it with the hiring of Harbaugh. The thing that stuck out the most was when he said that Bill Walsh told him before he died that Jim Harbaugh would be the next great Niner coach.

i think my problem is every time it looks like the niners do something right they seem to fail terribly...harbaugh is an awesome college coach...but its not just him, players along with coaching staff make people look good...and it didnt hurt to have andrew luck in your corner...i think im just tired of getting pumped up for something that could be a bust....i remember a fire that singletary lit under the niners and got them moving....and even the media hyping this season up for the play offs...no doubt we could have been better and could have made it....we have skilled players in almost every key position...but still lacked a QB and coach lol...yet we were perceived as a playoff team.....im just tired of setting myself up to get let down.....harbaugh may or may not do it...i would like to see some games before committing myself to his NFL coaching abilities....

it is a great move by the niners though....how else or who else could they hire that will fill the stadium...you need a strong name to get people into the stands and right now harbuagh is a hot commodity so the fan buzz just went through the roof.....i bet all of the season tickets holders that either gave up rights or were about to jumped back on board and re-upped.....i dont know if anyone was there last sunday at candlestick...but that stadium was empty....no better way to get a big name in there from a highly respected school to get the fickle 49er fan base coming to the stick again
