ok.

always drink bottled water there. and make sure the bottle is still closed (seal not broken) because it is known that people will just get an old bottle, fill it up with tap water and charge you for it.

as far as food and getting sick is concerned, that's a crapshoot. the only way to avoid it is to eat home cooked food, but if that's not an option, finding a restaurant that serves meat (protein!) would be good to latch on to.

good luck.

^ Yup... one thing I learned in Vietnam was that you better make sure you're brushing your teeth with bottled water as well!

^^^Yeah, you can follow some guidelines on how to not shit and puke for three days straight, but you can't avoid getting it.

Once I got it in Taiwan in a good Restaurant. They put ice cubes in the beer, cause that shit was warm, but I guess the ice cubes were tap water. Later that night in the hotel I got a bad stomach feeling, thought I just have to pass gas and did the Dana to my pants and bed. Was sitting on the toilet all night.

Other than that I don't really have bad stories to tell, even though I've eaten in some dirty ass restaurants. My fav restaurant right now is a Chinese restaurant servin Dong Bei food and that shit is fuckin delicious, but that place is fuckin dirty. You can smell the toilet almost through the whole place and going to the toilet will burn off any hair in your nose. Never had any problem there though.

But I guess I got kind of an iron stomach over the years.

I arrived in Nepal today, am in Lumbini now and the food here is so much better then Indian.
I'll stay here for about 30 days (will say hello to the Maoists when I see them CB!) and go back to India.

Stay the fuck away from Mumbai, sadly I'll have to visit Dehli for a visit to Myanmar.
I want to go to the golden triangle, smoke some opium and eat some dog there.
Looking forward to that!

About the Indian girls.
Tourists have 0 chance. They are still so traditional in India. and the ONLY beautifull girls there are, are of the highests caste system.
Which means there daddy is so incredible wealthy you cannot even imagine.
When you see them they are either with daddy, mommy or the man for their arranged marriage.

They all look for a man to marry and don't do one night stands, not even with Indian guys. So tourists are ruled out.

If you want you can get with some... but they need the sex change first though!
But there are not so many beautifull Indian girls anyway... maybe 5 out of 1 billion.. and they probably have some of hidden birth defects you only see when they are completly nekked.

I don't think there is one person on the planet who goes to India and doesn't shit his/her pants and vomits in the process, though!

I m really glad for the muslims in India , at least this way I can eat some kebabs and shoarma's. Some of that good meat!!
All the hindu's eat is vegetables. I would die in the first week eating just that.

Was this your first time in india? How old are you? I am not doubting your experience however your experience differs from the story's I have heard from others. Maybe they ventured a bit further and their personality allowed them to interact a bit more. You make alot of generalizations and stereotypes..such as Nepali Food being way better...maybe its your preference but there are various regions in India with various cusines..thats like going to United States..stopping off at a hamburger stand and saying there aint no good food in the USA. You saying all the Hindu's eat just vegetables is a stereotype...thats like saying all black people eat chicken and watermellon.
Going to Delhi...I am almost certain you will hate that place. Im not sure about the social life in Delhi but if you didnt hit up the clubs in Mumbai..Im sure you will judge the women that are peddling goods on the street.

Yes my first time in India and I've only spent that time in Mumbai so my opinion is a bit biased yes.
I know every region in India has different 'cuisines' but for one, they put 'masala' in almost everything. Even in the tea.
The most hindu's eat only vegetables. I haven't met one that ate meat.
So I was really thankfull for the muslims in Mumbai.

Now I'm in Nepal. I say the food is better here because I like it better here.
Rice (without curries) and noodles, noodles man, noodles!
I don't think the people you know actually interacted more with local people then I did.
I've been doing that all my life. I hang out a lot with locals everywhere I go. It's easy to come in contact with them, especially since I travel by myself now.

I've heard Dehli is way worse then Mumbai yes. But I need to go there to get a visa so you'll see some ranting from me in a few weeks about that too!

I've been to clubs in Mumbai, there are some beautiful girls there yes, but don't be fooled. A lot of them come from the UK.
But all the girls in the clubs don't mingle with tourists, like I said. They are more traditional here and look for a man to build a future.
I am sure this will chance (or started already) since now they really follow the west.

But in about 30 day's I will return to India and spent some time traveling round and I know for sure it will chance my opinion about it.
It can only get better after Mumbai (except for Dehli).

In any major city meat is served. In south India they eat alot of fish. You can rent a houseboat for the day real cheap (for what ya get)and travel through the backwaters of Kerala.. They have a cook on board and they serve huge prawns and fish.

Have you posted on www.indiamike.com ? There are quite a bit of travel journals, and the forums are filled with members who work, reside, or just want to visit.

I think while in Delhi a must is visiting Karim's (I think thats the name) Has been featured on the food channel a few times and has a long historyof their grilled meats.

I realize that as a tourist regardless of your visa..max stay is 180 days and then you have to exit the country..even if you have a ten years visa. Most people would cross to nepal, pakistan, or Sri-Lanka...and come back...Now things are changing and I hope you can get back in India because at one point this year they were not letting people back in who have not been gone for I believe was either 60 or 90 days. Some people had problems while some did not..

Here's some pic's of Lumbini, Nepal.
There is a 10 day gathering here of budhist monks. They pray for world peace. I didn't know budhist monks prayed, but they actually pray to Budha. Maybe I missed the point of reaching enlightenment through meditation...

These pics are also unedited.. and for some I really need to change the white balance.. but will do that when I get home..

On the road there... tourist go on top of the bus, you filthy scum!

This is build on the spot where Budha supposedly was born.

Many monks... but I've not seen one smoking budha.. what a shame..
Not much else to do here but talking with the monks is fun, yesterday I saw a budhist monk fight with a hindu shop owner... that's something you'll see only once in your life..

Great pics...When you seen the Bhudhist monk fighting with the Hindu shopkeeper you should have ran over and told the monk to take you back to the temple so he can teach you Kung-Fu...tell him you want to be his disciple..haha
There was this guy I think he called himself Wazan he had a dope travel blog he was some white hippie budhist from Hawaii stated that he snuck into Nepal..can't remember the issue but he was a backpacker and it was cold and late and he had come too far to turn back.
His journal was filled with his daily smoking and he traveled in some places I think it was close to pakistan where weed grows wild. He also traveled alone walked on the unbeaten path..an inspiration for travelers.

That would be dope! Although for sure if I find myself in fields of grass I probably would get shot because with my luck there would be guards like in that movie 'the beach'

I keep a blog in Dutch.. I don't really want to bother too much with a multi lingual blog though although it would be nice because I got a lot of friends abroad too.

The buddhist monk couldn't fight for shit though.. he was no shaolin monk.. he could learn a thing or two from me actually.

I heard people here smoke.. or it is legal to smoke in Nepal (at least for some parts, offcourse not the part I am in right now) but I will find and smoke some here within 30 days for sure!
Did he post the location of those fields? I can't imagine he did because they would have robbed empty now I think.. maybe I run in to some or some opium somewhere..
Close to Pakistan is a lot of desert area.. except maybe in the north but it's winter now so everything should be packed with a field of snow sadly...

I Heard Simla (Shimla) had weed growing wild, and also heard mangalore as well. I wouldn't fuck with weed unless I had been at a location for a good period of time to get a feel for it and even then..is it worth possibly doing 10 years? ( i read a thread where one guy new several tourists who got convicted..although penalties are decreasing somewhat.
Might as well fuck with the Bhang Lassi. I heard drink a weak dose..Wazan and others assumed cause they get high all the time that they could handle a strong dose and the drink causes hullicinations and shit....I dont know but gettin high in another country aint for me, especially when ya got motherfuckers schemein and plottin.

..Oh yeah..I wish ya had an English Blog I would like to read it..but I understand its alot of work.

I'm not really keen on getting high in other countries either.. maybe in my hotel room but somehow it loses all it's charm then.. so I don't really bother.

I got offered hash on several occasions in Mumbai but I always declined.
One time a guy just grabbed it out of his pocket and showed it open in the street to me.
I got hella jumped and shouted 'I TOLD YOU I DON'T WANT IT' and I quickly walked away.
I thought if a police officer would see him showing me the weed for sure they would come up with a story that I wanted to buy. And I would extend my stay in India against my wil.

Last year I went on a 2 day jungle trek in Sumatra, there I was cool with the guides and they build a camp fire while all the other people of the group where hanging out amongst eachother I was happy drinking and smoking with those guides at the campfire.
That was a great experience.

I don't really want to re-write everything on my blog but I added a translator function.
So now you can translate everything in English in one push of a button.
This way there might be some (minor) and grammatical errors in there but you can understand pretty much everything I guess.

My blog is here:
